Friends of ours planted a micro-forest in their backyard this weekend! A group of us got together and planted 300 trees on their 1-acre property. Was great to get the little ones involved.

I love preparing my meals on the weekend. Not only does it help me with my busy schedule, I get to choose healthy and sustainable ways knowing that I am not just caring for myself, but the environment. Prepping my fruit and cottage cheese in mason jars. Knowing I can buy jars from FB Marketplace especially the old mason jars. Keeping my glass 4...

This month, I convinced my roommate to join me in the switch to wood shaving cat litter. I have been using this for a while now, but now our home will not be contributing ANY litter to the 3.6 million tons of clay litter that go to a landfill every year. I highly recommend this change, as this litter is not only compostable but also flushable,...

As a queer person, I believe our community makes a positive impact. However, I have gone to concerts by queer bands and seen nothing but litter on the floor after a show. Things like this lead me to a desire to be more eco-conscious and friendly, and lead a life that has a positive impact on our earth.

I have made a concerted effort to change to more natural cleaning products in our home. Truthfully, I've been skeptical of how well they would work in comparison to commercial products. I am amazed at the results, and it feels fulfilling to make wiser choices for the common good.

When I went to the grocery store this week, I tried to avoid single use plastic. I took my own reusable shopping bags and produce bags. I realized I need more reusable produce bags, and also, I took note of how much fresh produce is wrapped in plastic. When I shopped at the bulk food store, single use plastic bags are the standard containers...

I didn't understand the affects oil going down the sink had on our waterways before. I already disposed of it in the fashion that was described, but now I know why I should be doing this from an environmental perspective rather than just a clogged drains perspective.

I calculated my water footprint at www.watercalculator.org and it was enlightening! While I use less water than the average person, my daily diet alone uses 854 gallons/day... way more than I realized.

We are lucky to live on a street with very kind neighbours. This weekend we were able to borrow some tools that we don't currently own - and that we rarely need to use. It was nice to share the tools, but also to build that neighbourly relationship :)

Spring cleaning is great. We began emptying our shed last week and divided everything into 4 piles; keep, fix, donate, trash. Happy to report that we had very little trash! We posted a number of items that our family has grown out of "free" online, and everything was picked up over 2-3 days. Felt good to pass it on.
