There is a lovely hiking trail area with wetlands in my area. My family has been exploring it and there is so much going on in there even with its proximity to developed housing. It is amazing to share the egrets and cranes with my son and show him the turtles and other animals that we encounter.

Freshwater + Oceans Reduce Pollutants in Cleaning
What did you learn about ingredients in our cleaning products and how they impact water and biodiversity? Did you try making your own cleaning products? If so, how did it go?

I made a very effective cleaner today using white vinegar, tangerine peels and rosemary. It smells amazing and cleans very well.
I also use some old kitchen towels that I cut into small paper towel sized rags to clean my counter tops and to dust with. They are very easy to clean after they are used and it keeps excess paper towel use to a minimum.

I did not realize pouring oil down the drain was bad for the water system. To properly dispose, let cool and soak up with newspaper or freeze it in a container and toss in trash.

Perennials, like violets, will pop up soon after the ground has thawed when bees come out of hibernation, and will bloom all summer long to feed your local bees throughout the season.

I joined the challenge to actively contribute to a healthier planet and to push myself towards more sustainable lifestyle choices. Some actions I've chosen include opting for walking or running over driving. This not only reduces my carbon footprint but also significantly enhances my mental health!

Switching to plant-based milk like almond, oat, or cashew as opposed to cow's milk can lead to reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
