Being stewards of the earth means we are caretakers and guardians of creation, not mere consumers. Through sustainable practices, protecting natural resources, and managing the planet with gratitude and care for future generations!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
What was the most rewarding part of bringing people together for a gathering? Did you experience any challenges in hosting, and if so, how did you overcome them?

People need people and anytime you gather helps people connect. Seeing people smile and talk to one another face to face is a great reward. When planning anything, just roll with the punches - only you know what the actual plan is (no one else will notice).
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
How did you participate in the sharing economy? (Consider posting a photo!) What are the benefits of sharing resources, and how does this strengthen resilience in your relationships and community?

Participating in a clothing swap or going to a consignment shop can update your wardrobe (inexpensively). One person's garbage is another one's treasure.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
What skill or service did you offer, and how did it impact someone in your community? How did sharing your expertise or time help you feel more connected to others?

I volunteer a lot at my church - helping in all aspects where needed. I also volunteer to teach Greek dancing - keeping connected to my heritage, good exercise, and educating. Using your TIME, Talent & treasure is always a good way to connect.

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY OF THE EARTH MONTH ECOCHALLENGE! I hope we all learned something and will keep doing what we are doing to make sure the planet is here for future generations. GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Soil and Food
What did you decide to grow, and how did it feel to start (or care for) your plants? What connections did it give you to soil or food resilience?

I have 3 brown thumbs. But I have been able to grow some herbs on my windowsill that I have used. And, if I get seeds, I give them to friends (who share with me), what they grow.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Personal
What did you do to prepare for extreme weather events? Did being more prepared improve your peace of mind or make you feel more prepared to help others? Share any tips or resources you found helpful in the feed!

Keeping flashlights (with fresh batteries) in different parts of the house if I lose electricity (instead of trying to find all of them in one place in the dark). Listening to what the weather may be, and prepare accordingly - bring items in from outside, cover other things, etc.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    What is resilience?
What story did you share, and how did it feel to share it? Did telling or hearing resilience stories shift how you think about strength and adaptability?

Listening to people who came from other countries because of war and how they adapted before leaving and how they adapted when they immigrated is inspiring. I don't know if I could have done it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water
What did you learn about your water footprint, and what changes felt most practical or surprising? How does this connect to resilience on a larger scale?

Not as bad as I thought it would be. But changing my diet and clothing choices would help.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Taking shorter showers, and not leaving the water running while using (brushing teeth, etc.).

It's weird I never really thought of doing this stuff, until I started this eco-challenge and now, I find myself doing little things to save water.
