I meant to share this earlier with those who are local to PDX. As part of our research, we stumbled upon this site that is super helpful for locals on how to use less plastic. https://consciousbychloe.com/zero-waste-pdx/ We plan to check out one shop mentioned in this piece called "Replenish Refill Shop", a zero-waste refill shop.

Keeping the spirit of Earth Month up, we headed to our local nursery and picked out a new tree to plant in our front yard. Here's a our new Japanese Maple tree. We plan to plant it this weekend! I will share pictures once it's planted in its new home!

I did a big trail cleanup earlier this week and returned to see the fruits of my labor. Generally, it was good. A few people had used the sand-filled bucket I left for butts (even though smoking is prohibited, people are still doing it). There were a few butts and pieces of litter in the bucket. While walking my dog I picked up any new butts...

Today I learned about columbines native to North America and specifically my area - Oregon. I'm not sure if this one is the Oregon native Aquilegia formosa. The seeds were harvested in North Plains on my friend's property. These plants pop up and flower in gorgeous colors of purple, blue, and cranberry. I absolutely love them, and so do the...

I'm co-leading an "Eco-club" at my neighborhood community house. Last night, the kids (5 years - 8 years) came together to celebrate Earth Day. Here's a picture of some of the ideas from the next generation!

the ecochallenge inspired me to create a couple of "reels". I'm an old lady, but I'm ready to get real with the folks that need some encouragement to learn new habits https://www.facebook.com/reel/1079426000022871

Today was huge! I spent about 2 hours early this morning, cleaning up along a trail that was horribly littered with cigarette butts. According to my Fitbit, about 3.5 miles in steps, and I can't even guess how many butts I picked up. Hundreds. Then I deployed some laminated signs and a sand-filled bucket I prepared over the weekend (I'll get a...

Went for a beautiful walk along the San Diego coast with wildflowers and blooms abounding from the Spring weather and recent rains - absolutely beautiful!

Here are some of the memes I've been sharing to help educate folks in my town (in Mexico) about the plastic recycling options

Happy Earth Day. Thanks for all y'all do -- we're on the same team and we're all winners! This year the ecochallenge has inspired me to recommit to my roots of community action. I've been crafting and sharing 'memes' to help educate folks in my town (in Mexico) about the recycling options we have here. I'm excited to go visit the brand new...
