Land + Forests
Forest-Friendly Foods
I will look for sustainable palm oil products with the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSP) label. I will replace or remove the palm oil, coffee, and cocoa products in my current diet that are known to contribute to deforestation and opt for ones that help sustain healthy communities and forests.
Land + Forests
Choose Eco-Friendly Wood and Paper
Trees provide food and habitat for local wildlife species, shade our streets and homes, and help keep our air and water clean by capturing pollutants. Buying products that help protect forests makes a difference. I will only purchase wood, furniture, and paper products from ecologically certified sources such as Forest Stewardship Council.
Action Track: Community
Keep My Community Clean
At times it may not feel like it's up to us to keep our community clean and healthy, but we all have a role to play. Each day I am outside, I will pick up any litter I see.
Freshwater + Oceans
Try not to waste water
I chose this because many people waste liquids, especially water. I want to change that, so my goal is to reduce the water used in the house. You can take shorter showers, finish your water, (no pressure, if you can't you can't), and learn more about water issues.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand + Forests Forest-Friendly FoodsWhat did you learn about forest-friendly foods? How difficult or easy was it to change your diet?
Kika ZT 4/26/2024 5:48 AMI did a project on Palm Oil in 5th grade, and I am still passionate about it today. I always look for RSPO certified products, although sometimes things just have palm oil that you can't really substitute. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Community Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Kika ZT 4/26/2024 5:46 AMPicking up litter shows that you care about your community and the environment. It inspires others to do the same and can help you meet like-minded individuals. It's a simple way to participate in making your community a better place, and a way to make friends!
