"I'm an agriculture student learning about regenerative farming practices and soil health. I grew up on, and currently live on a farm, so I see the ways agriculture is both positively and negatively affecting our environment and world. I know agriculture is a vital part of our lives and it's not going away, but we can definitely change it for the better. "

I tried shortening my shower length today, I was able to cut my time in half from 20 minutes to 10 minutes, it was definitely a struggle but I think it'll get easier. Also, by me cutting my shower time in half this morning, I had 10 extra minutes to get ready! I learned about regenerative farming practices for an entire hour today in my regenerative ag class, we had a guest speaker talk to us about how she's implemented regenerative practices on her and her husbands farm.

I live in a very small town that is very community based, we have many small businesses that are family owned. The number one small family owned business that I support on a regular basis is my local grocery store Dave's Supermarket. Dave's was started by Dave and his wife Emma Lou Steffen in 1950. The business has grown a lot throughout the years and is still owned by the Steffen family. Shopping at Dave's has built a very strong community in my small town and has opened up many job opportunities for local residents. I feel like I'm making a difference shopping there because I am supporting my community.

Cover crops and no till/minimal till are great soil health practices that farmers can adopt to reduce erosion and increase soil activity and living organisms in the soil. I find these inspiring because I live on a farm and my dad is a conventional farmer, I'd like to educate him on better farming practices that will benefit the soil.
