What is resilience?
Share a Definition of Resilience
Sharing builds common understanding. I will share 3 definitions of resilience that resonate with me—through conversations, social media, or the event feed—to help others explore what resilience means.
Personal
Prepare for Extreme Weather
Extreme weather events like hurricanes, wildfires, and floods can disrupt lives and upend our communities. I will take proactive steps to prepare for extreme weather by safeguarding my home and creating or updating an emergency plan and kit with essential supplies, evacuation routes, and contact information.
What is resilience?
Learn About Ordinary Magic
Resilience is an everyday magic in all of us. I will spend 10 minutes learning about resilience and psychologist Ann Masten’s concept of “ordinary magic,” which shows how people adapt and thrive through small, daily strengths.
Community
Swap and Share with Others
Swapping and sharing resources reduces waste and builds community bonds. I will participate in 1 swaps or sharing activities, like borrowing items, attending or hosting a swap meet, or giving away items I no longer need to support a sharing economy with friends, family, colleagues or neighbors.
What is resilience?
Explore Resilience in Nature
Resilience is all around us in the natural world. I will spend 30 minutes outdoors looking for examples of resilience—such as plants regrowing, animals adapting, or seasonal cycles—and reflect on what they teach about thriving through change.
What is resilience?
Learn About Ecological Resilience
Resilience is part of how nature works. I will spend 15 minutes learning about ecological resilience—how ecosystems adapt to disturbances and renew themselves through cycles of growth and renewal.
What is resilience?
Learn About Biodiversity and Resilience
Diversity builds strength in ecosystems. I will spend 15 minutes learning how biodiversity helps nature adapt to change and maintain balance.
What is resilience?
Reflect on My Own Resilience
Resilience is personal and collective. I will reflect on a time when I adapted to change in my own life, writing down what helped me and what I learned from the experience.

Resilience and learning some techniques on adapting to change was a huge win for me today. I tried the two min timer to jump start activation energy and it worked! i find trying out different strategies satisfying and appreciate this challenge for helping me while I help the earth!.
Today, my Mason bees are out and about! learning about them and getting their house all set up was a pleasure i will continue over the years. A really fun project that is great for any age since they don't sting!-

That’s great you are supporting habitats for pollinators, an important part of ecosystems! Glad to see everyone getting something out of this challenge.
