Meatless doesn't mean boring. OR tasteless. Just think of all the sides at Thanksgiving. Those are the best part and most are meatless.

Take the Pre-Survey
Take the Pre-Event Survey
I’ll take a short pre-survey to share what motivated me to join — and earn 15 points! (If I already took the survey by email, I’ll just mark this action complete to get my points.)
Personal
Reduce Refined Sugar
Cutting back on refined sugar can improve energy, mood, and overall health. I will limit my intake of sugary snacks and drinks by reducing refined sugar in meals or snacks each day.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Reduce Light Pollution
Too much artificial light can confuse and harm animals, especially those active at night. I will reduce sources of outdoor light or switch to wildlife-friendly fixtures to support healthy habitats.
Work and Organizations
Reduce Waste in My Organization
Waste reduction supports both ecological and organizational resilience. I will work with others to conduct a waste audit and reduce waste in my organization, such as paper, plastics, or energy use.
Personal
Enjoy Fruits and Veggies
Eating a wide variety of colorful fruits and vegetables is a simple way to boost our personal health and support a more resilient food system. I will prepare and enjoy 1 servings of fruits and vegetables each day.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Leave the Leaves
Fallen leaves, logs, and brush provide shelter and food for wildlife. I will leave natural features in my yard or community space to help strengthen biodiversity and soil resilience.
Work and Organizations
Host a Cleanup Event with Colleagues
Shared projects at work strengthen teams and build organizational resilience. I will host or join 1 cleanup events with colleagues, classmates, or group members to improve our environment and strengthen collaboration.
Soil and Food
Preserve or Store Food
Preserving food through freezing, drying, or fermenting helps food last longer, reduces waste, and ensures supplies during difficult times. I will preserve or store food during the challenge to strengthen household and community resilience.
Soil and Food
Enjoy a Meatless Meal
Producing 1 kg of beef emits as much greenhouse gas as driving 150 miles, meanwhile, 1 kg of veggies or grains leaves a much lighter footprint! This week, I’ll shrink my climate impact by having 1 meatless meals meals each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONSoil and FoodWhat meal did you enjoy the most, and what alternatives did you try? Did anything surprise you about how satisfying plant-based options can be?
Erin Whelan 4/14/2026 5:56 AMI just tried incorporating meatless meals easily. like eating cereal or toast for breakfast, salad for lunch, or pasta for dinner. I liked that cutting my meat intake is helping the planet, and its all food that I like. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWork and OrganizationsWhat did you learn from your audit, and what steps did you take to reduce waste? How can reducing waste create both environmental and organizational benefits?
Erin Whelan 4/13/2026 6:05 AMFrom my audit, I learned that I was throwing away more food than I realized, especially leftovers and items I forgot about. To reduce waste, I started planning meals better, freezing extra food, and checking what I already had before buying more. Reducing waste helps the environment by cutting down on trash and saving resources. It also helps with organization because it keeps things more planned, saves money, and makes it easier to manage food at home.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONSoil and FoodWhat preservation method did you try, and how did it work for you? How can these practices help reduce waste and improve food security?
Erin Whelan 4/13/2026 6:03 AMI tried freezing food, especially leftovers and fruit. It worked well because it kept food fresh longer and gave me quick meals later. This helps reduce waste by saving food instead of throwing it away, and it improves food security by making food last longer and be available when needed. -

You're able to go back to the previous day and still complete your check-in. That way you can enjoy your weekends without logging onto the Ecochallenge right away.
