Community and Connection
Share Information about Local Resources
Knowledge of local resources helps communities thrive. I will learn about local resources, especially mutual aid groups, and share them with others on social media, in conversations, or in other ways that help spread the word.
Community and Connection
Attend a Local Event
Local events such as farmers' markets, festivals, or community meetings like town halls are great ways to feel part of a community. I will attend 2 community events to connect with others and learn more about my area.
Community and Connection
Visit or Learn About a Culturally Significant Site Near Me
Sites of cultural and spiritual significance hold deep meaning for many communities, particularly Indigenous peoples. I will learn about or visit a site near me that is significant to the history, culture, or environment of the area. I will approach my visit with respect by researching its importance and guidelines beforehand, reflecting on how we can preserve these spaces for future generations.

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity and ConnectionWhat did you learn about the sacred site’s history and significance? Why are these sites important to protect, support, and understand?
Malayah Warner 4/29/2025 10:26 AMOne sacred site in southern San Diego is Tecate Peak, which is super important to the Kumeyaay people. It’s a place where they’ve had ceremonies and spiritual practices for centuries. The peak is believed to be home to powerful spirits, and it holds a lot of meaning for the Kumeyaay’s history and culture. Protecting places like Kuuchamaa is important because they help keep traditions alive and show respect for the land and the people who’ve lived there for so long. It reminds us that some places are more than just beautiful views—they carry deep, cultural significance. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity and ConnectionWhat resources did you discover, and how do you think they can benefit your community? How did sharing this information make you feel more connected to your community’s needs and opportunities?
Malayah Warner 4/29/2025 10:20 AMI discovered resources that support local sustainability efforts, like native plant guides and community clean-up events. These can really benefit my community by promoting a healthier environment and encouraging people to get involved. Sharing this information made me feel more connected and aware of what my community needs—and how I can actually help. It felt good to contribute and be part of something bigger than myself.
