  • Reflection Question
Climate & Ecosystems Learn About Invasive Species
What is one invasive species in your region and how does it impact your region's ecosystem?

One invasive species around Susquehanna University that affects the region is the Spotted Lanternfly. This species harms many types of plants by sucking the sap out of trees. This is can be an economic harm, as well as reducing the quality of life outside, therefore it is important to be aware of this species and reduce its spread.

I feel that the best way to reduce my carbon footprint is to change where I acquire my food and how sustainable I am about choosing what I eat. Reducing the amount of meat that I eat on a daily basis would reduce my carbon footprint greatly. Another reduction would be to travel using air fare less often. My family often travels by air when going on vacation, but this amount could be reduced and replaced with more driving or closer vacations. A practice I already have that helps to reduce my carbon footprint is carpooling. I carpool as often as possible to reduce the amount of trips that need to be made.

To reduce my water use, I can have a more sustainable diet that includes less meat. Meat was the main contributor to my daily water usage, so by reducing the amount of meat I eat I will reduce my water footprint. One practice I already use in keeping my showers quite short to reduce the amount of water usage there.
