Your pair of sneakers generates 30 pounds of CO2 emissions, keeping a 100-watt light bulb on for a week. Prolonging its life means reducing its environmental impact and help people elsewhere. What seems worn out to you might be of use to another person.

I can't believe this is the last Friday of April. It went so quickly, yet, so much has been accomplished. Next week we will have one last in-person activity in celebration of Earth Month: Lunch & Learn with Western Disposal. Composting and recycling are still big challenges on our campus, come learn more and spread the knowledge. Tues, April 30th, in the White River Conference room! And, then, mark the completion of the team activity to earn some more points. Happy Friday,
I signed up today for this app: "Too Good to Go". Their mission is to fight food waste, which according to trustworthy sources accounts for 1/3 of all food produced for human consumption. 1.3 billion tons/year = 1.3 x 10^12 kg of Food. The app connects you (consumer) to business that have surpluses that would go to waste. Businesses sell those at a cheaper price and everyone wins. The app just launched for the Boulder area. I am hoping it will stay and make an impact! https://www.toogoodtogo.com/en-gb
Wanted to give a belated shout-out to Seth Harris! He prepared a great presentation highlighting sustainable initiatives our customers are undertaking and how Emerson is supporting and enabling their efforts. It made me feel proud to participate in such an organization, that not only promotes sustainability internally, but it is also working with other organizations to make the world a better place for future generations. Seth, you rock! Thank you for all you do and for continuing to build this culture within our teams.
We had a wonderful Lunch & Learn event with Chiara Forrester from the Watershed Center. It was very interesting the connection she made about the increase of arborization in the Boulder region, which led to more impactful (natural) fires, that resulted in rivers carrying more sediments (erosion), and consequently to a more challenging water purification process to attend population supply. The complexity of these interconnected systems and the fact that even positive actions have debatable consequences highlighted to me more and more the importance of working together towards a common more sustainable future. https://watershed.center/
We had a wonderful Lunch & Learn event with Chiara Forrester from the Watershed Center. Their mission of "protecting and restoring watersheds for people and the environment using a collaborative and science-based approach" is very in line with Emerson's "driving innovation that makes the world healthier, safer, smarter and more sustainable". Thank you to everyone who participated! There are many ways to get involved, more information: https://watershed.center/
Last week, I visited the Twin Lakes Open Space in Gunbarrel, 5 min, from the Boulder Campus. I had a picnic outside, inhaled the fresh spring air and walked around the beautiful trails in the park. We are so lucky to have such a resource close by where we can connect to nature and recharge before getting back to work.

We had a wonderful turn-up yesterday in our campus-wide Cleanup. I was surprised to find so much garbage, I filled up a whole bucket in 45 min. The campus is squeaky clean. This activity contributes to improving aesthetics but also increases community pride, enhances habitat for wildlife, and is a good group workout. Thank you to everyone, who participated, please send your feedback so the team can improve the experience.
