Community
Take Part in a Community Beautification Project
Working together builds resilience and pride in the places we care about. I will participate in 1 community projects such as a cleanup or local beautification project that strengthens connections and shared purpose.
Community
Swap and Share with Others
Swapping and sharing resources reduces waste and builds community bonds. I will participate in 1 swaps or sharing activities, like borrowing items, attending or hosting a swap meet, or giving away items I no longer need to support a sharing economy with friends, family, colleagues or neighbors.
What is resilience?
Share a Resilience Story
Stories connect and inspire us. I will share 1 resilience stories—either from my life, my community, or from a leader or culture I admire—through conversations, social media, or the event feed to help others see resilience in action.
What is resilience?
Share a Definition of Resilience
Sharing builds common understanding. I will share 1 definitions of resilience that resonate with me—through conversations, social media, or the event feed—to help others explore what resilience means.
Action Track
Remember to bring a reusable cup or water bottle when you're out.
I will bring a reusable drink cup with me for my beverage orders or water refill stations to reduce the amount of single-use item waste I create.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Leave the Leaves
Fallen leaves, logs, and brush provide shelter and food for wildlife. I will leave natural features in my yard or community space to help strengthen biodiversity and soil resilience.
Personal
Enjoy Fruits and Veggies
Eating a wide variety of colorful fruits and vegetables is a simple way to boost our personal health and support a more resilient food system. I will prepare and enjoy 6 servings of fruits and vegetables each day.
Personal
Go Get a Check Up
Regular health check-ups help prevent problems before they start. I will schedule or attend a medical, dental, or mental health check-up to take care of my well-being.
Personal
Reduce Refined Sugar
Cutting back on refined sugar can improve energy, mood, and overall health. I will limit my intake of sugary snacks and drinks by reducing refined sugar in meals or snacks each day.
Water
Take Shorter Showers
Conserving water helps protect this precious resource. I will shorten my showers to 5 minutes to save water and reduce energy use - each time saving up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water!
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Reduce Light Pollution
Too much artificial light can confuse and harm animals, especially those active at night. I will reduce sources of outdoor light or switch to wildlife-friendly fixtures to support healthy habitats.
Water
Mulch the Base of Trees and Plants
Mulching helps soil hold water and reduces runoff. I will mulch the base of trees or other plants at home, school, or in my community to improve water retention and soil health.
Personal
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 60 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Soil and Food
Grow Something to Eat
Growing food builds resilience by connecting us to the soil and reducing reliance on long supply chains. I will grow edible plants—such as herbs, vegetables, or grains—in my home, balcony, or community space, strengthening both my food security and local biodiversity.

REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonalWhat motivated you to schedule or attend your check-up, and how did it make you feel afterward that you completed this action?
Craig Vallesi 4/28/2026 7:20 AMThis challenge motivated me to call and get up a check up from my doctor. As I am getting closer to 40, I know how important it is to see a doctor. I felt great leaving as there were only minor issues that can easily be treated/corrected. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonalHow did exercising each day impact your physical and mental resilience? What activities helped you feel stronger, more flexible, or more capable of adapting?
Craig Vallesi 4/27/2026 5:56 AMIts just a great way to start the day. Its gets the blood flowing and body moving which makes the morning easier. My energy kicks in much earlier than if I was to just slide out of bed and go to work. It also allows me to not drink my first coffee until well in to my work day. -
Craig Vallesi 4/24/2026 7:19 AMThe challenge is going well. I have found it easier than I initially thought to eat more vegetables. Instead of sitting down for my lunch, I have really enjoyed taking a 30-40 minute walk to break up the day and get some exercise. Then I am able to eat my lunch and do my job at the same time. Leaving the office for a walk and fresh air certainly have a positive impact on my attitude, perspective, physical and mental health.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonalBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now? What was the most challenging part of reducing refined sugar, and how did you overcome it?
Craig Vallesi 4/24/2026 7:16 AMI never through I was addicted to sugar, but I knew I was consuming too much on a daily basis. I feel much better now being more aware of how much sugar is in the foods I consume. I have really enjoyed zero sugar soda.
The most challenging part of reducing sugar, was having to think twice about the cookie, or candy I was thinking of eating. Or being at a celebration and avoiding the cake and the ice cream. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterHow did shortening your showers affect your awareness of water conservation? What other water-saving practices can you adopt in your daily routine?
Craig Vallesi 4/23/2026 9:00 AMI realized that I do a lot of standing around or thinking in the shower which is unnecessary. As that can be done outside of the shower while not using/wasting water in the process-
Nayeli Espinoza 4/23/2026 9:18 AM- Plant Parent 🪴
Shortening my showers really made me more aware of how much water I was using without thinking. It helped me realize that even small daily habits can have a big impact over time, and now I’m more intentional about not wasting water.
