There is really a thin line between staying healthy with sports and turning into a complete ecological disaster, especially if you do multiple exercises during a day. In this regard, it is important to plan ahead and change some habits to reduce your negative impact. Here are some tips:
    • If you take a shower as soon as waking-up, you are likely to take another shower after exercise. Try to wake-up earlier, do exercise and start the day with a shower that cover both your wake-up shower and after-exercise-shower.
    • If you are a regular swimmer, try not to machine wash your swimsuit after each swim session. Rather wash them on you during shower and machine wash after every 3-5 session.
    • Try cold shower! it is very promoting to limit your shower duration. Additionally, you save energy on heating water and cold water is a perfect recovery for your sore muscles after exercise.
Let me know what you think and feel free to contribute your tips on further positive impacts !

I completely forgot about solar panels, you are right! It would solve majority of these mentioned problems. Although, I would still promote cold showers :D

      Totally agreeing.
If you have solar panels it makes also sense to drive the washing machine or dishwasher during the day with sun and not in the evening. But all this is about planning, planning, planning. And it's not easy every time to plan everything, but this it the bigges and most effective challenge.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What changes did you make to improve your sleep, and how did they affect your day?

I found it quite useful so far to bring restrictions to device that could distrupt my sleep, or even timing to go to sleep. At the moment, my smart watch and phone are set to a certain hour where they go into sleep mode. My smart watch does not show details anymore (like notifications etc.) and phone sends me reminder that I need to "protect my sleep". Please give it a try!

I read about sleep disorders and in the report there were also results, not only about smart devices, but also about radiation in general and how it affects the well-being during the sleep phases.
You are doing exactly the right thing with your smart phone, but if you want to go one step further, you can also set your WiFi router to sleep mode, as the radiation from WiFi has a huge impact on our sleep behavior.

It is also highly recommended, as professional athletes do, to completely darken the room to minimize light sources. Even small stand-by lamps are switched off or taped over by Olympic athletes, for example.

I found the reportage really crazy about all the things that have an influence on us and what we don't even pay attention to or know about.

Hey Teo, nice to have you in the challenge. I think this year fit really great for you, regarding mental health. Maybe you can post your experience with mental health during your long marathons. I think there must be a huge mental strength to finish it and stay focused during those events.
