Land, Water, and Air
Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Land, Water, and Air
Save Water When Washing Dishes
Dishwashers can save water — if used wisely. I will only run the dishwasher when it’s full and skip the pre-rinse to reduce water and energy use. If I don't have a dishwasher, I will turn off the tap as often as possible while washing dishes.
Land, Water, and Air
Collect Rain Water
Rainwater collection reduces water waste and supports gardens. I will install a rain barrel or collect rainwater to use for 2 outdoor tasks, such as watering plants or cleaning.
Health and Well-Being
Reduce Refined Sugar
Cutting back on refined sugar can improve energy, mood, and overall health. I will limit my intake of sugary snacks and drinks by reducing refined sugar in meals or snacks each day.
Health and Well-Being
Meditate
Meditation helps build resilience and clarity. I will spend 10 minutes each day to meditate or create a moment of silence each day to reflect on things important to me.
Health and Well-Being
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 45 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirHow did collecting rainwater influence your understanding of sustainable water use? What tasks or activities could benefit most from rainwater collection in your household?
Caden Taffe 4/28/2025 11:42 AMI used recycled containers from laundry detergent to catch rain water that I can now use to wash my car and then water the grass in my lawn. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirWhat surprised you most about your water footprint, and how did it influence your perspective on water use? What changes can you make to reduce your water consumption, and how will these impact your daily routine?
Caden Taffe 4/28/2025 11:38 AMThe most surprising thing was that it asked me about how much I drive my car. I want to learn how cars use water. I could reduce my footprint even more by running the sink less when I brush my teeth or shave. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirHow did changing your dishwashing habits make you more mindful of water use? What other small changes can you make to conserve water in your household?
Caden Taffe 4/28/2025 11:32 AMnot running the dishwasher until it was full was extremely easy and saved at least one running of said dishwasher. I can use a similar method with the washing machine to conserve even more water. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingHow did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?
Caden Taffe 4/22/2025 10:30 AMI already exercise almost everyday but the extra challenge pushed me to commit to all 7 days. When I exercise consistently I always feel better and more energized throughout the week. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingWhat did you notice about your thoughts or emotions during or after meditation? Did you find it easy or challenging to meditate?
Caden Taffe 4/22/2025 10:28 AMI meditated at night after the gym. I noticed that it was easier for me to fall asleep later in the night than normal.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now? What was the most challenging part of reducing refined sugar, and how did you overcome it?
Caden Taffe 4/08/2025 10:46 AMI knew I ate a lot of sugar before I started this challenge but I thought it would be harder than it was. Most of the sugar I consume is from drinks. I just replaced the drinks I normally have with the sugar free version.
