Health and Well-Being
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 60 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Community and Connection
Check In with a Friend or Colleague
Staying connected strengthens relationships and boosts well-being. Each day, I will reach out to 3 friends or colleagues to check in, have a meaningful conversation, or offer support.
Health and Well-Being
Prepare for Extreme Weather
Extreme weather events like hurricanes, wildfires, and floods can disrupt lives and upend our communities. I will take proactive steps to prepare for extreme weather by safeguarding my home and creating or updating an emergency plan and kit with essential supplies, evacuation routes, and contact information.
Community and Connection
Attend a Local Event
Local events such as farmers' markets, festivals, or community meetings like town halls are great ways to feel part of a community. I will attend 1 community events to connect with others and learn more about my area.
Health and Well-Being
Replace a Product
Small changes can make a big difference for health and sustainability. Using what I learned from auditing ingredients in the products I use, I will replace 2 toxic or harmful products I use with safer, eco-friendly alternatives.
Community and Connection
Swap and Share with Others
Swapping and sharing resources reduces waste and builds community bonds. I will participate in 1 swaps or sharing activities, like borrowing items, attending or hosting a swap meet, or giving away items I no longer need to support a sharing economy with friends, family, colleagues or neighbors.
Sustainable Innovation
Choose a Product Made with Sustainable Materials
Every choice matters. I will purchase or switch to products made from sustainable or recycled materials to support innovation and reduce environmental impact.
Sustainable Innovation
Advocate For Better Food Packaging
When companies and governments make large-scale changes to their products and practices, it makes sustainability more accessible to the masses, in turn creating further demand for sustainable products, and the cycle continues. I will advocate for improved, sustainable food packaging through petitions, letters, or by supporting brands that prioritize eco-friendly packaging - and share my advocacy actions on the feed.
Land, Water, and Air
Conduct a Home Energy Audit
Reducing energy use helps protect the air and climate. I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy and reduce pollution.
Land, Water, and Air
Save Water When Washing Dishes
Dishwashers can save water — if used wisely. I will only run the dishwasher when it’s full and skip the pre-rinse to reduce water and energy use. If I don't have a dishwasher, I will turn off the tap as often as possible while washing dishes.
Wildlife
Learn to be a Responsible Tourist
Being a responsible tourist means not disturbing wildlife and choosing eco-friendly tour operators and destinations that prioritize wildlife conservation and respect animal welfare. I will spend 15 minutes researching ways to travel responsibly to ensure my adventures support, rather than harm, wildlife and their habitats.
Wildlife
Learn to Grow Plants Your Way
Growing plants can be rewarding and can create habitats big and small for wildlife. And, we can grow things almost anywhere! I will spend 15 minutes researching options for growing plants either inside or outside.
Wildlife
Enjoy a Meatless Meal
Producing 1 kg of beef emits as much greenhouse gas as driving 150 miles, meanwhile, 1 kg of veggies or grains leaves a much lighter footprint! This week, I’ll shrink my climate impact by having 1 meatless meals and/or 1 vegan meals each day.
Land, Water, and Air
Join a Cleanup Effort
Working together to clean up public spaces helps the environment and builds community. I will participate in 1 community cleanup efforts in my neighborhood or local area.
Empowering the Next Generation
Conduct an Audit with a Young Person
Learning by doing empowers youth. I will conduct an environmental audit — such as a home energy or waste audit — alongside a young person to teach them practical sustainability skills and see what I learn from them as well.
Empowering the Next Generation
Support Youth Climate Activists
Youth activists are leading the charge for a better world. I will spend 15 minutes learning about or supporting youth climate activists through sharing their work or attending their events.
Empowering the Next Generation
Mentor a Young Environmental Enthusiast
Guidance helps youth grow their passion for the planet. I will mentor a young person interested in the environment by sharing my knowledge, experiences, and encouragement.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONEmpowering the Next GenerationWhat did you and the young person learn from conducting the audit together, and how did it change their understanding of sustainability? Did anything change about your understanding of sustainability?
Charlotte Starr 4/21/2025 12:17 AMI conducted a technology audit with my cousin. Together, we learned that there is plenty to do that doesn't involve technology, and it helped us to understand how we can start to pick up more eco-friendly hobbies that aren't reliant on technology. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEmpowering the Next GenerationWhat did you learn about the youth climate activists you supported, and how do their efforts inspire you?
Charlotte Starr 4/21/2025 12:13 AMI learned about Leah Namugerwa, a 15-year-old Ugandan climate activist. She launched a campaign called Birthday Trees, which encourages people to plant trees instead of hosting birthday parties. She has inspired me to start a small garden in my backyard. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEmpowering the Next GenerationWhat did you enjoy most about mentoring a young person, and what impact do you think it had on their growth? Did you have any challenges or ah-hah moments with your mentoring experience?
Charlotte Starr 4/21/2025 12:06 AMI mentored my cousin. What I enjoyed most about the experience was passing down to her the knowledge I have learned about how to make a difference in the environment. I think that this impacted her growth by showing her that even as a one-person, she can still make a difference. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirWhat was the most unexpected piece of trash that was picked up during your local cleanup effort? How does working with others to clean up your community make you feel?
Charlotte Starr 4/18/2025 2:51 PMDuring my local cleanup effort, the most unexpected piece of trash I picked up was an old hat. Working with a few of my friends to clean up made us feel empowered and like we were helping make a change in our community.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirWhat did you discover during your energy audit that you weren’t aware of before? What steps will you take to reduce energy use, and how will they benefit both the environment and your household?
Charlotte Starr 4/18/2025 2:48 PMDuring my energy audit, I realized I often have unnecessary lights on in my home. To reduce my energy use, I made sure that all unnecessary lights and electronics were turned off when they weren't in use. This will benefit the environment and my home by reducing the demand for electricity and lowering my homes electric bill.-

You can also use vacancy sensor on lights, so you don't have to remember to turn them off, and there are power strips for electronics that will automatically disconnect them when they are not being used. -
