What is resilience?
Learn About Ordinary Magic
Resilience is an everyday magic in all of us. I will spend 10 minutes learning about resilience and psychologist Ann Masten’s concept of “ordinary magic,” which shows how people adapt and thrive through small, daily strengths.
Personal
Enjoy Fruits and Veggies
Eating a wide variety of colorful fruits and vegetables is a simple way to boost our personal health and support a more resilient food system. I will prepare and enjoy 3 servings of fruits and vegetables each day.
Community
Discover How Communities Build Resilience
Every community around the world faces challenges—from natural disasters to economic changes—and find ways to adapt and thrive. I will spend 10 minutes exploring stories of community resilience and reflect on what lessons I can bring to my own community.
Water
Save Water When Washing Dishes
Dishwashers can save water — if used wisely. I will only run the dishwasher when it’s full and skip the pre-rinse to reduce water and energy use. If I don't have a dishwasher, I will turn off the tap as often as possible while washing dishes.
Work and Organizations
Celebrate Successes Together
Celebrating achievements helps teams endure challenges. I will help organize ways to celebrate group or individual successes in my organization to build morale and resilience.

I enjoy eating a lot of fruits and vegetables and realize that this is a more sustainable way of living. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterHow did changing your dishwashing habits make you more mindful of water use? What other small changes can you make to conserve water in your household?
Lisa Spiegelman 4/13/2026 7:42 AMWhen I see my family from California basically use no water when washing dishes, I can see how that can save a lot of water in the long run. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhat story of community resilience inspired you the most? How might those lessons apply to your own community or networks?

The Trees for Borneo was my favorite article since growing trees to help supply food for a community seems like a very natural and very good idea. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWhat is resilience? What stood out to you about the idea of “ordinary magic”? How can one use a small, everyday strength to better handle a challenge this week?

I liked reading about viewing failures as a path to future successes. I think that we as a society get way too hung up on "failing" at life or jobs or whatever, when not being 100% perfect at something or even everything that you do is totally normal. -

Our VP did a great thing the other week by introducing the team Sully awards, one for each member of our team. It was lighthearted but also the good intent was obvious. Definitely appreciated. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonalHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet? What fruits or vegetables did you try this week, and which was your favorite?
Lisa Spiegelman 4/02/2026 8:19 AM- Artist 🎨
Definitely positive. We enjoy green veggies such as kale, red leaf lettuce, red peppers, yellow pepper, cucumber, tomatoes, olives, micro greens and red onion. For Fruit, I have blueberries, apples and bananas.
