Community and Connection
Attend a Local Event
Local events such as farmers' markets, festivals, or community meetings like town halls are great ways to feel part of a community. I will attend 1 community events to connect with others and learn more about my area.
Land, Water, and Air
Reduce Vehicle Idling
Idling cars wastes fuel, contributes to climate change, and pollutes the air in our communities. I will turn off my engine when waiting in my car to reduce air pollution and carbon emissions.
Share My Why
Share My Why
I will share my Ecochallenge story and why I'm taking action for the planet — and earn 15 points!
Health and Well-Being
Prioritize Getting Enough Sleep
Good sleep is essential for a healthy body and mind. I will prioritize getting 90 minutes of quality sleep each night and develop a bedtime routine that supports rest and relaxation.
Land, Water, and Air
Reduce Food Waste
Wasting food also wastes water, energy, and resources. I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during the Ecochallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation, and commit to reducing my food waste throughout the challenge.

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money? What patterns did you notice in the food you threw away, and how can you address them?

- 14-DAY STREAK
Hi Hunter, I totally relate to this! I’ve also found that buying more than I can eat is a big reason why some food ends up going bad. I love your idea about planning meals ahead of time and making a list — that’s something I’m trying to do better with, too. Lately, I’ve been trying to freeze fruits or leftovers if I know I won’t get to them in time. It’s a small step, but it’s helping! -

- 15-DAY STREAK
In a previous ecochallenge, I learned about proper produce storage. It was quite enlightening and I changed my practices such that I experience much less wastage of produce.
