Sachin's actions
Health and Well-Being
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 15 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Wildlife
Learn to Grow Plants Your Way
Growing plants can be rewarding and can create habitats big and small for wildlife. And, we can grow things almost anywhere! I will spend 10 minutes researching options for growing plants either inside or outside.
Empowering the Next Generation
Donate to Support Emerging Leaders
Investing in young leaders helps shape the future. I will make a donation to a program or organization that supports emerging environmental leaders.
Wildlife
Use Reusable Bags
Plastic bags do not always end up in landfills and if they aren't properly disposed of. In nature, they can be mistaken for food by many wild animals and harm wildlife. When I go shopping, I will be sure to bring my own bags to reduce waste and the chance that plastic bags could find their way into wildlife habitats.
Empowering the Next Generation
Teach Advocacy Skills
Advocacy skills empower youth to make a difference. I will spend 1 hours teaching a young person how to advocate for environmental issues, such as engaging in decision-making, understanding civics, speaking publicly, or organizing events.
Sustainable Innovation
Support a Crowdfunded Sustainability Innovation
Small contributions can drive big ideas. I will support a crowdfunded sustainability project to help bring innovative, eco-friendly solutions to life and share the project on social media or on the Ecochallenge feed.
Sustainable Innovation
Advocate For Better Food Packaging
When companies and governments make large-scale changes to their products and practices, it makes sustainability more accessible to the masses, in turn creating further demand for sustainable products, and the cycle continues. I will advocate for improved, sustainable food packaging through petitions, letters, or by supporting brands that prioritize eco-friendly packaging - and share my advocacy actions on the feed.
Sustainable Innovation
Invest in the Future of Sustainability
Sustainable investments shape a greener future. I will research and invest in companies, funds, or projects that supports sustainability, such as renewable energy, green tech, or sustainable practices. I will share more about who I supported with others on social media or in the Ecochallenge feed.
Sustainable Innovation
Support Resilient Powergrids
A community can be brought to its knees without dependable power, often affecting the most vulnerable. I will write 1 letters or emails per day to a public official or company to advocate for a more resilient power grid (e.g. microgrids, solar storage).
Wildlife
Learn to Be a Responsible Pet Owner
Being a responsible pet owner means minimizing the impact pets have on wildlife by keeping them indoors, never setting them 'free' into nature, and supervising pets when they are outside to prevent them from hunting or disturbing wild animals. This also keeps our pets safe from harm. I will spend 10 minutes learning about ways to ensure my pet’s behavior and care practices protect local wildlife and their ecosystems.
Health and Well-Being
Go Get a Check Up
Regular health check-ups help prevent problems before they start. I will schedule or attend a medical, dental, or mental health check-up to take care of my well-being.

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity and ConnectionWhat did you enjoy or learn from attending a local event in your community? How did participating in this event deepen your connection to your local area?
Sachin Sethuram 4/30/2025 1:20 AMAttending a local clean-up drive showed me how small efforts add up when a community comes together. It made me feel more connected to the people and places I pass by every day. -
REFLECTION QUESTION
Empowering the Next GenerationWhat advocacy skills did you teach, and how did the young person respond to learning them? How can empowering youth with advocacy skills drive meaningful environmental change in your community?
Sachin Sethuram 4/30/2025 1:19 AMI taught my daughter how to speak up politely about using less plastic at school. They felt proud and even shared the idea with friends. Empowering kids builds confident voices—and that ripple can spark real change in the community. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingHow did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?
Sachin Sethuram 4/30/2025 1:17 AMDaily exercise keeps me fit and able to do my daily activities like a breeze. i like swimming the most as it improves breath, full body exercise, refreshing and most importanly like a meditation to mind. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirHow did being mindful of vehicle idling change your perspective on fuel consumption and air quality? What other transportation habits can you adopt to reduce your environmental impact?
Sachin Sethuram 4/30/2025 1:16 AMBeing mindful of idling made me realize how much fuel we waste just sitting still. Now i activated the auto turn off feature in my car when waiting and try to walk or carpool more—it’s better for the air and my conscience. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSustainable InnovationWhat actions did you take to advocate for sustainable food packaging, and how were they received? How do you think widespread changes in food packaging could benefit the planet?
Sachin Sethuram 4/30/2025 1:07 AMI have a friend who owns a small restaurant back in home country. I spoke to him and asked him to message a few restaurants about switching to eco-friendly packaging—some were open to it, others just unaware. They have pledge to take some action and actively looking for alternate options. I was surprised that a small action helped to start a change . -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirWhat did you discover during your energy audit that you weren’t aware of before? What steps will you take to reduce energy use, and how will they benefit both the environment and your household?
Sachin Sethuram 4/30/2025 1:03 AMUsing the DEWA bill app and inhouse meter readings, I discovered that many of our devices were still drawing power even when turned off—something called "phantom energy." I learned that these standby appliances can account for up to 10% of a household’s electricity use. I was shocked to see how much our TV setup, microwave, and chargers were quietly consuming. To reduce this, I’ve started unplugging unused devices and using smart power strips. I’m also switching to LED bulbs, which use about 75% less energy and last 25 times longer than traditional incandescent ones. These small steps will lower our energy bill and reduce our household emissions—helping both the environment and our wallet. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlifeHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Sachin Sethuram 4/30/2025 12:58 AMAt first, avoiding plastic bags felt like a small inconvenience—I'd often forget my cloth bags or grab plastic out of habit. But with a bit of mindfulness and preparation, it quickly became second nature. I keep always a reusable bag or close bags in my car to keep it easy access.-

Sachin Sethuram 4/30/2025 12:56 AMTo ensure my pets don’t harm local wildlife, I keep them supervised outdoors, especially during walks or playtime. I avoid letting my community cat roam freely. I also clean up after them to prevent waste from entering local ecosystems. Being a responsible pet owner not only keeps my pets safe and healthy, but it also protects native species and maintains the balance of the environment. -
