Soil and Food
Grow Something to Eat
Growing food builds resilience by connecting us to the soil and reducing reliance on long supply chains. I will grow edible plants—such as herbs, vegetables, or grains—in my home, balcony, or community space, strengthening both my food security and local biodiversity.
What is resilience?
Share a Resilience Story
Stories connect and inspire us. I will share 1 resilience stories—either from my life, my community, or from a leader or culture I admire—through conversations, social media, or the event feed to help others see resilience in action.

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhat did you enjoy or learn from attending a local event in your community? How do local traditions and gatherings build resilience and strengthen your community’s identity?
Aley Seager 4/30/2026 9:30 AMAttending community events is such a great way to strengthen the support system you have around you and meet others you may have never come across before -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterHow did collecting rainwater make you feel about the cycles of nature and resource use? What did you use the water for?
Aley Seager 4/30/2026 9:24 AM- Parent 🐻
As part of our backyard improvements, we created a way to collect the rainwater. It has not only allowed for a better way to maintain water during the drought, the improvements have really helped the backyard look way better!-

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterWhat personal action did you create, and why does it matter to you?
Aley Seager 4/30/2026 9:21 AM- Parent 🐻
I have maintained trying to reuse water in a way that I am not running the sprinklers regularly to water the grass. We are currently experiencing a drought, so while the green grass matters to me, the Earth does a little more. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSoil and FoodWhat did you decide to grow, and how did it feel to start (or care for) your plants? What connections did it give you to soil or food resilience?
Aley Seager 4/30/2026 9:07 AM- Parent 🐻
My kid has started to want to learn how to plant and has started to grow an apple tree. I am not sure how long (if ever) that we see results, but it is so fun watching my kids go out and check on it and want to help see it come to life. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWhat is resilience? What story did you share, and how did it feel to share it? Did telling or hearing resilience stories shift how you think about strength and adaptability?
Aley Seager 4/30/2026 9:06 AM- Parent 🐻
I shared my experiences going through what we have had to go through in my family through the legal system. It helped someone that was freshly going through it and to know how to navigate the complexities that come with such an experience.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONWork and OrganizationsHow does being part of a green team strengthen collaboration? What role can green teams play in building organizational resilience?
Aley Seager 4/30/2026 9:05 AM- Parent 🐻
Being part of a green team (and any team for that matter) helps to share knowledge and resources that are critical for everyone playing a better role in improving our environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWork and OrganizationsWhat risks or resources did you identify? How might this knowledge help your group respond better in times of change?
Aley Seager 4/30/2026 9:04 AM- Parent 🐻
I have ensured that I know where all local resources are for potentially dangerous weather. Growing up in the desert, I never had to worry much about bad weather and having to know where tornado shelters were. Now that I live where they can hit, with kids and dogs, it is important that I map all necessary resources for the chance of it impacting my household. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonalWhat did you do to prepare for extreme weather events? Did being more prepared improve your peace of mind or make you feel more prepared to help others? Share any tips or resources you found helpful in the feed!
Aley Seager 4/30/2026 9:02 AM- Parent 🐻
I do not think that preparing for potentially extreme weather has provided more peace of mind, but maybe actually more worry. That is just simply the way my mind sometimes works when thinking about "what if." It is nice knowing though that should a bad tornado come through, like they have before in Alabama, I am ready for it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhat skill or service did you offer, and how did it impact someone in your community? How did sharing your expertise or time help you feel more connected to others?
Aley Seager 4/30/2026 9:01 AM- Parent 🐻
I have helped some kids in my community for basketball training as a way to give back and share the skills I worked so long to develop. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBiodiversity and WildlifeWhy is raising your voice important for resilience, and how can public support strengthen protections for wildlife?
Aley Seager 4/30/2026 8:57 AM- Parent 🐻
I have joined a snake identification group out of the attempt to save wildlife. I have a deep fear of snakes and probably always will - but the group has allowed me to know how to identify snakes and when one is good to keep around or to call a specialist to ensure its protection.-
Nayeli Espinoza 4/30/2026 9:02 AM- Plant Parent 🪴
Raising your voice is important for resilience because it brings awareness and drives change when wildlife is at risk. Public support helps create stronger protections by encouraging laws, conservation efforts, and accountability, making it easier to protect ecosystems and biodiversity.
