Exercise Daily

Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 30 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.

Reduce Refined Sugar

Cutting back on refined sugar can improve energy, mood, and overall health. I will limit my intake of sugary snacks and drinks by reducing refined sugar in meals or snacks each day.

Water

Save Water When Washing Dishes

Dishwashers can save water — if used wisely. I will only run the dishwasher when it’s full and skip the pre-rinse to reduce water and energy use. If I don't have a dishwasher, I will turn off the tap as often as possible while washing dishes.

COMPLETED 3
DAILY ACTIONS

Water

Mulch the Base of Trees and Plants

Mulching helps soil hold water and reduces runoff. I will mulch the base of trees or other plants at home, school, or in my community to improve water retention and soil health.

Create My Own Water Action

Everyone’s water needs and use are different. I will create an action that works for my life and supports water resilience—and make my commitment public by sharing it in the feed to inspire others.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Personal
Before you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now? What was the most challenging part of reducing refined sugar, and how did you overcome it?

Yes, I think I am addicted to sugar because I have major cravings. I am reducing the number of things I buy and have on hand in the house- especially processed, sugary treats. I am realistic and realize I can't cut it out completely, but I do feel better reducing the quantity.

I have the same relationship with sugar. I find that keeping some healthy snack options around helps me stave off the temptations of eating that late night sugary snack.

I find juices and other flavored drinks that I can get with low to no sugar tend to help my cravings since they are still sweet and usually last longer then a bowl of candy would.
