Clean Up Waterways Near You
Healthy waterways are essential for resilience. I will volunteer for 1 hours to clean or protect local rivers, lakes, wetlands, or coastal areas to support ecosystems and communities.
Work and Organizations
Join or Start a Green Team
Green teams strengthen resilience by creating shared responsibility. I will join or help start a green team in my workplace, school, or community group to support sustainability and collaboration.
Work and Organizations
Host a Cleanup Event with Colleagues
Shared projects at work strengthen teams and build organizational resilience. I will host or join 1 cleanup events with colleagues, classmates, or group members to improve our environment and strengthen collaboration.
Personal
Prepare for Extreme Weather
Extreme weather events like hurricanes, wildfires, and floods can disrupt lives and upend our communities. I will take proactive steps to prepare for extreme weather by safeguarding my home and creating or updating an emergency plan and kit with essential supplies, evacuation routes, and contact information.
Community
Swap and Share with Others
Swapping and sharing resources reduces waste and builds community bonds. I will participate in 2 swaps or sharing activities, like borrowing items, attending or hosting a swap meet, or giving away items I no longer need to support a sharing economy with friends, family, colleagues or neighbors.
Community
Join a Group
Belonging to a group can help build friendships and a sense of purpose. I will explore online or in-person groups or clubs that share my interests or goals and join a group to connect with others.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Remove Invasive Species
Removing invasive species (species that are not naturally found in my area and can outcompete native plants) can help beautify nature around me and protect local biodiversity. I will learn about invasive plants in my area and, if possible, support or participate in at least one effort to beautify nature near me by removing invasive species.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Choose Native Plants
Native plants provide food and shelter for local wildlife and help ecosystems adapt to change. I will choose native plants for my yard, balcony, or community space instead of non-native or ornamental species to support biodiversity resilience.
Community
Attend a Local Event
Local events such as farmers' markets, festivals, or community meetings like town halls are great ways to feel part of a community. I will attend 1 community events to connect with others and learn more about my area.
Soil and Food
Grow Something to Eat
Growing food builds resilience by connecting us to the soil and reducing reliance on long supply chains. I will grow edible plants—such as herbs, vegetables, or grains—in my home, balcony, or community space, strengthening both my food security and local biodiversity.
Soil and Food
Eat Local and Seasonal Foods
Local and seasonal foods require fewer resources, support nearby farmers, and keep soils healthier through diverse planting. I will source 1 meals per week from local or seasonal producers—such as markets, CSAs, or co-ops—to strengthen community food resilience.
What is resilience?
Explore Resilience in Nature
Resilience is all around us in the natural world. I will spend 20 minutes outdoors looking for examples of resilience—such as plants regrowing, animals adapting, or seasonal cycles—and reflect on what they teach about thriving through change.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Reduce Light Pollution
Too much artificial light can confuse and harm animals, especially those active at night. I will reduce sources of outdoor light or switch to wildlife-friendly fixtures to support healthy habitats.
Action Track
Participate in a Habitat Restoration Project
Healthy habitats support resilient wildlife populations. I will join 2 restoration efforts, such as planting native plants, cleaning a natural area, or repairing trails to protect biodiversity.
Water
Create My Own Water Action
Everyone’s water needs and use are different. I will create an action that works for my life and supports water resilience—and make my commitment public by sharing it in the feed to inspire others.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Leave the Leaves
Fallen leaves, logs, and brush provide shelter and food for wildlife. I will leave natural features in my yard or community space to help strengthen biodiversity and soil resilience.
Take the Pre-Survey
Take the Pre-Event Survey
I’ll take a short pre-survey to share what motivated me to join — and earn 15 points! (If I already took the survey by email, I’ll just mark this action complete to get my points.)
Action Track
Take Part in a Community Beautification Project
Working together builds resilience and pride in the places we care about. I will participate in 1 community projects such as a cleanup or local beautification project that strengthens connections and shared purpose.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Speak Up for Wildlife Protection
Wildlife needs support from people. I will take 3 actions, such as volunteering, signing petitions, contacting leaders, or sharing information on social media, to help protect habitats and species.
Community
Log Volunteer Hours
Log your Ecochallenge-related Volunteer Hour in Good Works. If using VTO, please also request time in Workday. Email Anjelica if you have questions ([email protected]). P.S. In celebration of Arch's 25th anniversary, employees that record at least 7.5 volunteer hours will earn a $25 incentive to support the community.

Has anyone seen the Plastic Detox? Came out in March and it has been ALL OVER my social media feed. There are so many takeaways popping up, I love how much awareness is arising from this impactful examination.-

halfway through the month and I am proud of the intention I have been bringing to my live and decision making! Has anyone else noticed a difference? -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSoil and FoodWhat local or seasonal foods did you try? How does eating with the seasons or supporting nearby farmers change your perspective on resilience?
Jess Rosen 4/15/2026 7:07 AMI checked out a local farm down the street and got fresh Asparagus and lettuce. I have always opted to go to the grocery store because I figured locally grown foods would be too expensive. Boy was I wrong. Yes, it was a little smaller, but the pricing was fair, it tasted delicious AND I supported those in my community. I will certainly be heading back. -

There's one tree outside the hallway to our offices that always blooms first. I saw tiny little leaves on it on Friday before I left work and it made me SO excited! I love seeing nature come to life in the spring.

My favorite moment of spring is here! The skunk cabbages are popping up in my local park. They grow in wetlands and generate their own heat, that now only supports the plants and fungi around them but enables it to bloom in frozen conditions to provide food and respite to early pollinators.

I have been doing the small things like taking it slower, opening all the windows, and prioritizing getting out in the morning. These have all been so helpful to my day
