  • REFLECTION QUESTION

I emit the most carbon in traveling. My car is kinda big and uses fossil fuels I drive at minimum 30 minutes 6/7 days a week. I can try carpooling more and when traveling I can go by different transportation then planes.

It was a yearly check up to see how I was doing and to meet a new doctor. I felt glad that I went to the check up.

Dental and vision checkups should be part of our annual plan. I was grumpy about not seeing well for better than a year - when I finally went to have my eyes examined, I had cataracts and a partially torn retina. Had I not dealt with this, I could easily have lost sight in at least one eye.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

It's the start of spring so it's not too hot yet but the sun is out and it's not damp and cold. Being outside makes me feel more present and energized.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Well-Being
How did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?

Exercising helps me stay in shape and feel productive, and it also helps me get energy out while benefiting my physical health, like increasing stamina and endurance. I enjoy sports practice the most because it benefits me when competing and it's not the same repetitiveness as working out at a gym and using machines.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Well-Being
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet? What fruits or vegetables did you try this week, and which was your favorite?

    Olivia Romero's avatar
    Olivia Romero 4/08/2025 10:58 AM
It limits the amount of animal products needing to be produced, causing less need for the killing or containment of animals for food. This week I ate lot's of berries, potatoes, banana's and broccoli. Like raspberries and sweet potato which have been my favorite to eat.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Well-Being
Before you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now? What was the most challenging part of reducing refined sugar, and how did you overcome it?

Before this challenge refined sugars and junk foods were a very big part of my diet and most of my meals or snacks had at least one majorly unhealthy food from soda to donuts or chips, whenever I tried not eating sugar I always ended up binge eating sugar either the next day or later that day. It caused me to be dehydrated and definitely affected my physical health especially my energy and gut health. After working out I always craved a sugary drink instead of water or anything that would be beneficial for hydrating, I drank things like sodas or slushy's quite often especially if I believed I had earned it. Earlier this year I began going to the gym more frequently and trying to workout harder and I also started a sport that required a weight class. My new sport required me to be more conscious of sugar and calories so that I was not gaining too much weight during meals and snacks. And I realized that in order to see progress from working out I needed to give my body food that could benefit it, such as protein rich foods and healthy carbs. Before all of this I was also told throughout my sports that my diet and the food I was eating was affecting my energy levels and stamina so I wanted to get my body in better shape so I wasn't letting teams down and for my own benefit. Overall eating healthier has been a little rough to begin but with all the positive effects that I have seen it was definitely worth it.
