Biodiversity + Wildlife
Learn about Native Species
The world is full of unique species. I will spend 5 minutes each day learning what the native plants and wildlife are in my region.
Action Track: Community
Raise Awareness for the Conservation of Freshwater and Oceans
I will spend 30 minutes learning more about the importance of freshwater + ocean conservation, and how I can reduce my water use. I will share what I learn with people in person, on social media, and on the feed.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Wild Flowers and Bio Diversity at Home
Last spring I planted hundreds of native wild flower seeds in the strips of 'grass' between the sidewalk and the street to foster a bee and butterfly friendly urban environment. My goal this year is to continue this effort to bring pollinators back to the urban core by encouraging my neighbors to do the same. We are the only house on our block to not sod or completely landscape our small plot. Whatever ground is not used for food growth is covered in native grasses or flowers.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Leave No Trace
I will respect and protect biotic communities by practicing the seven principles of Leave No Trace whenever I am outside.
Freshwater + Oceans
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
It's estimated over a billion water bottles are thrown away each year. Even if they were recycled, that still uses energy and resources from the earth. I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?
