Earth Month has been a powerful reminder that the way we live — what we consume, how we travel, the choices we make daily — all leave a mark on the planet.
This month, I’ve been focusing on slowing down, making more conscious decisions, and learning how even small changes can lead to lasting impact. Sustainability isn’t just a goal — it’s a mindset. 💚
Let’s keep learning, sharing, and growing — together.

I’m reminded that sustainability isn’t about being perfect — it’s about being intentional. Small actions like conserving energy, reducing plastic use, eating more plant-based meals, and spending time in nature all add up to a bigger impact.
Every choice matters. Every habit shapes the future. Let’s keep moving forward, one mindful step at a time. 🌱
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Empowering the Next Generation
What did you and the young person learn from conducting the audit together, and how did it change their understanding of sustainability? Did anything change about your understanding of sustainability?

    • Earth Advocate 📣
Conducting the audit together showed both of us how much waste and energy use we overlook in daily life — things like leaving chargers plugged in or using more paper towels than needed. It helped the young person realize that sustainability isn’t just about big actions; it’s about small, mindful choices every day. It also deepened my understanding that teaching and involving others makes the impact so much stronger because it spreads awareness beyond just myself.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community and Connection
How did joining a group make you feel more connected or supported? Why do you think belonging to a group is important?

    Aamina Quddusiyyah's avatar
    Aamina Quddusiyyah 4/27/2025 11:12 PM
    • Earth Advocate 📣
Joining a group made me feel more connected because it reminded me that I’m not alone — there are others working toward similar goals and willing to encourage each other. It gave me a sense of support and motivation I wouldn’t have felt on my own. I think belonging to a group is important because it builds a sense of purpose, accountability, and emotional resilience, especially when challenges come up.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community and Connection
What was the most rewarding part of bringing people together for a gathering? Did you experience any challenges in hosting, and if so, how did you overcome them?

    Aamina Quddusiyyah's avatar
    Aamina Quddusiyyah 4/27/2025 11:11 PM
    • Earth Advocate 📣
The most rewarding part was seeing everyone genuinely connect, laugh, and enjoy being in the moment together — it reminded me how powerful simple gatherings can be for building community. One challenge was coordinating everyone's different schedules and food preferences, but I overcame it by keeping the plans flexible and making sure there were a few easy, inclusive options for everyone.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Sustainable Innovation
What new insights did you gain about seaweed’s role in combating environmental challenges? Were you surprised how many products you may already be using contain seaweed?

    Aamina Quddusiyyah's avatar
    Aamina Quddusiyyah 4/27/2025 11:09 PM
    • Earth Advocate 📣
I learned that seaweed isn’t just food — it plays a huge role in absorbing carbon dioxide, improving ocean health, and even replacing plastics with biodegradable alternatives. I was definitely surprised to realize how many everyday products already use seaweed, like toothpaste, skincare items, and even some ice creams! It made me see seaweed as a powerful, natural tool we’re only beginning to fully appreciate.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Sustainable Innovation
What surprised you most about the amount or types of plastic you use daily? What sustainable alternatives are you excited to try, and how do you think they’ll reduce your plastic waste?

    Aamina Quddusiyyah's avatar
    Aamina Quddusiyyah 4/27/2025 11:08 PM
    • Earth Advocate 📣
I was surprised by how much hidden plastic I use daily — like food packaging, water bottles, and even things like produce bags and snack wrappers. I’m excited to switch to reusable grocery bags, a stainless steel water bottle, and beeswax wraps instead of plastic wrap. These small swaps should cut down a lot of single-use plastic, and over time, it’ll definitely make a noticeable difference in how much waste I create.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Well-Being
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What changes did you make to improve your sleep, and how did they affect your day?

    Aamina Quddusiyyah's avatar
    Aamina Quddusiyyah 4/27/2025 11:08 PM
    • Earth Advocate 📣
Lately, I’ve been averaging about 6 to 6.5 hours of sleep, but I’d really like to shift toward getting a full 7 to 8 hours consistently. I started winding down earlier by putting my phone away 30 minutes before bed and keeping a regular sleep schedule, even on weekends. It’s made a big difference — I wake up feeling less groggy, more focused, and more patient throughout the day
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Well-Being
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet? What fruits or vegetables did you try this week, and which was your favorite?

    Aamina Quddusiyyah 4/27/2025 11:07 PM
    • Earth Advocate 📣
Eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat helps my body feel lighter and more energized, lowers my risk of health issues, and reduces my carbon footprint, which benefits the planet and future generations. It also supports farmers and local markets, strengthening communities. This week, I tried some fresh mangoes and roasted Brussels sprouts — the mangoes were definitely my favorite, super sweet and refreshing!
Did you try anything new or interesting this week? 🍉🥦

Spending time outside made me notice how peaceful and alive everything feels — the breeze, the sounds of birds, the small details you usually miss when you're rushing. It helped me slow down, feel more grounded, and clear my mind. Connecting with nature definitely boosts my physical and mental well-being by reducing stress, refreshing my energy, and reminding me that there’s more to life than just screens and schedules.
