Use a Reusable Water Bottle
It's estimated over a billion water bottles are thrown away each year. Even if they were recycled, that still uses energy and resources from the earth. I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.

30 for 30 in Nature
Studies have shown that when we spend consistent time in nature, our health improves, our creativity increases, and our connection to the planet gets stronger. Each day of the Ecochallenge, I will spend 30 minutes outside (in a large or small patch of nature), then share my observations, reflections, and learnings on the feed.
Action Track: Community
Keep My Community Clean
At times it may not feel like it's up to us to keep our community clean and healthy, but we all have a role to play. Each day I am outside, I will pick up any litter I see.
Action Track: Community
Borrow Before I Buy
Why buy something I will only use once or a few times if someone nearby has it for me to borrow, and why not share something I have that someone may only need a few times a year? To reduce my consumption and waste, I will create or support the sharing economy with friends, family, colleagues or neighbors.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Community Borrow Before I BuyHow did you participate in the sharing economy? (Consider posting a photo!) What are the benefits of a sharing economy? How could a sharing economy change the dynamics you have with friends, family and/or neighbors?
Gianna Pirone 4/06/2024 10:52 PMIn one of my art classes, we started using paint so me and my table group realized we all have only a fraction of the colors/supplies needed but if we combine it all we have enough for everyone and it's everything we need. To be honest this happens a lot in my art classes especially because supplies are expensive. I do know that in the art building, there's a box labeled free for used canvases that can be taken to be painted over -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand + Forests 30 for 30 in NatureWhat have you noticed about how it feels to spend consistent time outside?
Gianna Pirone 4/03/2024 3:46 PMWhen outside It definitely brings my mood up especially since past a certain time sunlight doesn't hit my windows anymore. going and spending time outside feels very refreshing especially when I bring my dog with me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFreshwater + Oceans Use a Reusable Water BottleWhat did you learn about the amount of plastic we consume and what actions will you take to reduce your use of plastic?
Gianna Pirone 4/03/2024 3:44 PMI live on campus and I realized how many plastic water bottles I would buy to keep myself hydrated. Currently, I stopped buying plastic water bottles and just keep refilling my Refillable water bottle (owala) at the cafeteria. doing this has made me realize how much plastic waste I was generating since my recycling bin doesn't fill up as fast as it used to.
