Biodiversity and Wildlife
Choose Native Plants
Native plants provide food and shelter for local wildlife and help ecosystems adapt to change. I will choose native plants for my yard, balcony, or community space instead of non-native or ornamental species to support biodiversity resilience.
Community
Join a Group
Belonging to a group can help build friendships and a sense of purpose. I will explore online or in-person groups or clubs that share my interests or goals and join a group to connect with others.

Work and Organizations
Zumba Lesson
The idea is to create an activity to build community with co-workers and exercise together as a team
Soil and Food
Learn How to Save Pollinators
Bees and other pollinators are vital to ecosystems and agriculture. I will spend 30 minutes learning how to support local pollinators and take at least one action—such as planting native flowers or avoiding pesticides—to help sustain resilient ecosystems and harvests.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Leave the Leaves
Fallen leaves, logs, and brush provide shelter and food for wildlife. I will leave natural features in my yard or community space to help strengthen biodiversity and soil resilience.
Water
Learn About Water and Climate Change
Water is one of the most visible ways climate change impacts our lives. I will spend 15 minutes learning how climate change affects water in my region and explore actions that can help people and ecosystems adapt.
Action Track
Take an alternative mode of transportation
Road transportation is one of the largest sources of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions globally (~12%). Alternative modes of transportation can have a significant impact in reducing the negative impacts of internal combustion and drive systemic change. I will take an alternative mode of transportation like (e)bike, bus or light rail for at least one trip that I would have used my (gasoline or diesel) car for.
Community
Offer a Skill or Service
Sharing our talents can benefit those around us. I will offer my skills or services that contribute to local self-sufficiency, such as teaching a repair skill or helping with a neighbor's garden.
Community
Swap and Share with Others
Swapping and sharing resources reduces waste and builds community bonds. I will participate in 2 swaps or sharing activities, like borrowing items, attending or hosting a swap meet, or giving away items I no longer need to support a sharing economy with friends, family, colleagues or neighbors.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Tree Care Day
We will organize an activity with co-workers to water and build soil basins around the trees planted last year.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction TrackWhat kind of restoration activity did you join, and how do you think it contributes to building resilience for people, plants, and wildlife?
Valeria Pérez 4/30/2026 2:41 PMI joined a restoration activity where I planted trees in a local ecological park. I believe this contributes to building resilience for people, plants, and wildlife because trees help restore natural habitats, improve air quality, and provide shelter and food for different species. For people, it creates healthier environments and stronger connections with nature, which can improve well-being and encourage long-term care for the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityHow did you participate in the sharing economy? (Consider posting a photo!) What are the benefits of sharing resources, and how does this strengthen resilience in your relationships and community?
Valeria Pérez 4/30/2026 2:38 PM- Community Builder 🤝
I participated in the sharing economy by exchanging resources and ideas with others in my community. This included sharing tools, knowledge, and time, which helped us support each other in a meaningful way. The benefits of sharing resources are that it reduces waste, saves money, and creates a stronger sense of trust among people. It also strengthens resilience in relationships and the community, because when challenges arise, we know we can rely on one another and work together to find solutions. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityHow did joining a group make you feel more connected or supported? Why do you think belonging to a group helps people face challenges more effectively?
Valeria Pérez 4/30/2026 2:36 PM- Community Builder 🤝
Being part of a group made me feel really good because I felt more connected through shared interests and values. When you spend time with people you have things in common with, it naturally increases your passion and motivation for the activities you do together. I believe that belonging to a group helps people face challenges more effectively because you can support each other, share ideas, and learn from different perspectives, which makes difficult situations easier to handle. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhat was the most rewarding part of bringing people together for a gathering? Did you experience any challenges in hosting, and if so, how did you overcome them?
Valeria Pérez 4/30/2026 2:06 PM- Community Builder 🤝
The most rewarding part of bringing people together was building meaningful connections, because I believe those bonds can last over time. During the gathering, it was sometimes challenging since there were many different opinions, and it’s not always possible to agree with everyone. However, I see that as an opportunity to learn from others and grow through different perspectives. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBiodiversity and WildlifeWhat native plants did you choose, and how do they support wildlife in your area? Share a photo in the feed!
Valeria Pérez 4/30/2026 2:04 PM- Community Builder 🤝
I chose mesquite trees because they are native to my region and very well adapted to the environment. They provide excellent shade and are highly resistant to the temperature changes we experience. In addition, they support local wildlife by offering shelter and food for different species, such as birds and insects. Their long lifespan also makes them an important part of maintaining a stable and healthy ecosystem over time. -
Valeria Pérez 4/30/2026 2:02 PM- Community Builder 🤝
I truly enjoyed becoming more aware through this experience. It helped me slow down, appreciate nature, and reflect on my daily actions. I hope this journey has encouraged me to stay consistent and mindful, so I can create meaningful habits over time. I believe that small, conscious changes can lead to a big impact, and I’m excited to keep growing and contributing to a better future for our planet-

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhat skill or service did you offer, and how did it impact someone in your community? How did sharing your expertise or time help you feel more connected to others?
Valeria Pérez 4/29/2026 8:52 AM- Community Builder 🤝
I offered my time and organizational skills to help plan and lead team-building activities at work that encouraged integration and collaboration among team members. These dynamics created a more open and positive environment, helping people connect, communicate better, and feel more comfortable working together. The impact was noticeable—people seemed more engaged, and there was a stronger sense of teamwork and trust. It helped break down barriers and made collaboration feel more natural.Sharing my time and effort in this way made me feel more connected to others because I could see how these small actions brought people together. It also gave me a sense of purpose, knowing that I contributed to creating a more supportive and united work environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonalWhat motivated you to schedule or attend your check-up, and how did it make you feel afterward that you completed this action?
Valeria Pérez 4/29/2026 8:51 AM- Community Builder 🤝
I was motivated to schedule my check-up because I know how important it is to stay on top of my overall health, especially with my regular thyroid monitoring. Keeping up with these exams helps me stay informed and take control of my well-being, rather than waiting for something to feel wrong. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWhat is resilience? What story did you share, and how did it feel to share it? Did telling or hearing resilience stories shift how you think about strength and adaptability?
Valeria Pérez 4/29/2026 8:49 AM- Community Builder 🤝
I shared a personal story about having someone close to me living with an autoimmune disease, and how that experience has shaped my understanding of resilience. Talking about it made me feel stronger and more confident, because it reminded me of everything we’ve been able to face and adapt to over time. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWhat is resilience? What definition of resilience did you choose to share, and why? How did others respond to it, and did it spark any new insights for you?
Valeria Pérez 4/29/2026 8:47 AM- Community Builder 🤝
I chose to define resilience as the ability to adapt, find meaning, and continue moving forward despite the physical and emotional challenges of living with an autoimmune disease. I focused on the idea that resilience isn’t just “enduring” hardship, but learning to live with it in a way that includes self-care, acceptance, and growth. I chose this perspective because it feels more realistic and compassionate especially for someone managing a chronic condition where the goal isn’t to “overcome” it completely, but to navigate it over time.
