Reflection QuestionClimate & Ecosystems Western Disposal Sorting Facility VisitWhat improvements could MMI make to reduce our waste?
Erika Palomino 4/12/2023 10:48 AMDuring our Western Disposal tour, we learned of all the contamination that had been getting fed into the composting stream. It was an encouraging and inspiring conversation to start looking into how Micro Motion could start moving away from single-use material. -
Reflection QuestionHealth & Equity Spend Time OutsideWhat are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?
Erika Palomino 4/06/2023 7:50 PMI know that when I spend all day inside glued to a screen because of work + studying, I end up wound up - never taking a breath, hardly moving and with back or shoulder pain. It leaves me in a bad mood and not wanting to connect with others. I’ve noticed this as well with my own kids. Thankfully my dog never lets me get away with not going outside. Although winter in CO has made it harder to spend anytime outside whatsoever in the harshest months. -
Reflection QuestionHealth & Equity Practice MindfulnessWhat was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?
Erika Palomino 4/03/2023 9:34 PMPracticing mindfulness is definitely something I need to do more of. I’ve finally been putting the Calm up to use lately and I’m hoping that the practice sticks. Can’t wait to see what the benefits of this daily action will be. -
Reflection QuestionEconomy & Communities Carry My TrashWhat one thing will you do right away to reduce your waste? What is the second thing you will do?
Erika Palomino 4/01/2023 6:17 PMTo reduce my waste, I will aim to eat at home more using fresh ingredients. I will do my best to avoid packaged ingredients. Everything is wrapped in unrecyclable plastic it seems! -
Reflection QuestionBasic Needs & Security Calculate Your Water FootprintWhat is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?
Erika Palomino 4/01/2023 4:53 PMWill look into getting low-flow toilets and replacing my kitchen faucet. Need to make sure all shower heads are low flow. -
Erika Palomino 4/01/2023 3:50 PMTeam, we're partnering with Community Food Share. For every $1 donated, you are helping with $5 of groceries! If you're able, donate at this link - https://give.communityfoodshare.org/team/493680 -
Reflection QuestionHealth & Equity Donate FoodWhy do you donate food? How does it connect to your values?
Erika Palomino 4/01/2023 3:47 PMKnowing that we live in a state where the cost of living is so high, the minimum wage is too low and 1 out of 10 Coloradans experience food insecurity, I want to do my part in helping others make sure they have food on the table. -
Reflection QuestionClimate & Ecosystems Plant a TreeHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Erika Palomino 4/01/2023 3:42 PMIn my case, I directly donated $50 Arbor Day Foundation where each $1 equals 1 tree planted. I feel inspired that such a big impact could be made with such ease. I will make it a goal to donate to them more frequently! -
Reflection QuestionBasic Needs & Security Try a New Vegan or Vegetarian RecipeWhat was the dish you made, and how did it turn out? What did it feel like to try a new recipe? If you can share a picture, please do!
