Prenie's actions
Land, Water, and Air
Learn to Choose Forest-Friendly Foods
Our food choices can help protect forests and wildlife. I will spend 15 minutes learning how to choose foods that are grown in ways that protect forests, such as avoiding products linked to deforestation and seeking certified sustainable options like shade-grown coffee or palm oil-free products.
Wildlife
Learn to be a Responsible Tourist
Being a responsible tourist means not disturbing wildlife and choosing eco-friendly tour operators and destinations that prioritize wildlife conservation and respect animal welfare. I will spend 40 minutes researching ways to travel responsibly to ensure my adventures support, rather than harm, wildlife and their habitats.
Wildlife
Learn to Grow Plants Your Way
Growing plants can be rewarding and can create habitats big and small for wildlife. And, we can grow things almost anywhere! I will spend 30 minutes researching options for growing plants either inside or outside.
Wildlife
Learn the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace
Leave No Trace means enjoying nature responsibly by minimizing our impact and leaving the environment as we found it, or better. I will spend 30 minutes learning about the seven core principles to minimize my impact while enjoying the outdoors.
Wildlife
Use Reusable Bags
Plastic bags do not always end up in landfills and if they aren't properly disposed of. In nature, they can be mistaken for food by many wild animals and harm wildlife. When I go shopping, I will be sure to bring my own bags to reduce waste and the chance that plastic bags could find their way into wildlife habitats.
Wildlife
Donate to Support Wildlife
There are many amazing projects supporting wildlife and their habitats. I will choose a project or organization to support that helps species and habitats I care about and make a donation.
Land, Water, and Air
Conduct a Home Energy Audit
Reducing energy use helps protect the air and climate. I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy and reduce pollution.
Land, Water, and Air
Learn About Water Justice
Access to clean water is a basic right, yet not everyone has it. I will spend 15 minutes learning about water justice issues and who is affected.
Wildlife
Learn to Be a Responsible Pet Owner
Being a responsible pet owner means minimizing the impact pets have on wildlife by keeping them indoors, never setting them 'free' into nature, and supervising pets when they are outside to prevent them from hunting or disturbing wild animals. This also keeps our pets safe from harm. I will spend 60 minutes learning about ways to ensure my pet’s behavior and care practices protect local wildlife and their ecosystems.
Health and Well-Being
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 30 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Wildlife
Try At Least One Principle of Leave No Trace
After learning about the Principles of Leave No Trace, I will take at least one action to minimize my impact on the outdoors while enjoying nature. I will post what I tried to the feed to encourage others to do the same!

REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlifeWhat project or organization did you choose to support, and why did it resonate with you? What are some ways you can continue to support wildlife conservation beyond financial contributions?
Prenie Ordonez 4/30/2025 2:54 AMI chose to support the Saving Daigdig project here in the Philippines. Their mission deeply resonates with me because they focus on protecting and enriching our planet through efforts like ocean conservation, tree planting, sustainability programs, environmental research, climate change awareness, and cleanup initiatives. I admire how they take a holistic approach to caring for nature and involve communities in the process.Beyond financial contributions, I can continue supporting wildlife conservation by volunteering in local cleanup drives, spreading awareness about environmental issues, reducing my own plastic and carbon footprint, and advocating for sustainable practices in my community. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlifeAre you a gardener or house plant lover? Why or why not? What do you need to elevate your plant care skills?
Prenie Ordonez 4/30/2025 2:49 AMI’m not currently a gardener or house plant lover, but it’s something I’d really like to try. I’ve always admired how plants can brighten up a space and bring a sense of calm. I think I’ve held back because I wasn’t sure where to start or worried I might not keep them alive. To elevate my plant care skills, I’d like to learn the basics—like how much light and water different plants need, and how to recognize signs of stress in plants. Starting small with a low-maintenance houseplant might be a good first step!

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirWhat did you discover during your energy audit that you weren’t aware of before? What steps will you take to reduce energy use, and how will they benefit both the environment and your household?
Prenie Ordonez 4/29/2025 1:49 AMDuring my energy audit, I discovered that several of my electronic devices were drawing power even when they were turned off—this was something I hadn’t considered before. I also realized that my older appliances are significantly less energy-efficient compared to newer models. To reduce energy use, I plan to unplug devices when not in use, replace incandescent bulbs with LEDs, and upgrade to energy-efficient appliances over time. I will also start using a programmable thermostat to better control heating and cooling. These steps will reduce our household energy bills and lower our carbon footprint, which benefits the environment by conserving resources and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions.

Prenie Ordonez 4/28/2025 6:35 AMYesterday, I ran 21 km for the Earth Day Run. It was an incredible experience to celebrate our planet through movement and purpose. Every step reminded me of how important it is to protect the environment we all share. Running alongside others who are equally passionate about sustainability made the event even more meaningful. I’m proud to have contributed to raising awareness and hope to continue making small but impactful choices every day for a healthier Earth.-

Prenie Ordonez 4/23/2025 12:24 AMI love hiking and being in nature because it gives me a chance to disconnect from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with myself. There’s something incredibly grounding about walking through forests, climbing trails, or standing at the top of a peak — it reminds me how small I am in the best way. Nature helps me slow down, breathe deeper, and appreciate the present moment. Hiking challenges my body, clears my mind, and fills me with a sense of peace and gratitude that’s hard to find anywhere else.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingHow did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?
Prenie Ordonez 4/23/2025 12:20 AMExercising each day had a powerful impact on my physical and mental well-being. It kept my body strong and conditioned, especially for the sports I love like hiking and freediving. Physically, I noticed improved endurance, better sleep, and increased energy. Mentally, daily exercise became a form of meditation — it helped me stay grounded, reduced stress, and boosted my overall mood.
The activity I enjoyed most was freediving. Being underwater, holding my breath, and feeling completely present in the moment is something that brings me a deep sense of peace and clarity. It’s like a reset button for my mind. Hiking was a close second — being out in nature, challenging myself on different trails, and soaking in the views gave me a sense of adventure and calm that I don’t find anywhere else. -
