Rosie's actions
Land, Water, and Air
Join a Cleanup Effort
Working together to clean up public spaces helps the environment and builds community. I will participate in 1 community cleanup efforts in my neighborhood or local area.
Wildlife
Learn the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace
Leave No Trace means enjoying nature responsibly by minimizing our impact and leaving the environment as we found it, or better. I will spend 20 minutes learning about the seven core principles to minimize my impact while enjoying the outdoors.
Community and Connection
Check In with a Friend or Colleague
Staying connected strengthens relationships and boosts well-being. Each day, I will reach out to 2 friends or colleagues to check in, have a meaningful conversation, or offer support.
Health and Well-Being
Enjoy Fruits and Veggies
Adding fruits and vegetables to our meals nourishes our body and the planet. I will prepare and enjoy 2 servings of a variety of colorful fruits and veggies.
Wildlife
Try At Least One Principle of Leave No Trace
After learning about the Principles of Leave No Trace, I will take at least one action to minimize my impact on the outdoors while enjoying nature. I will post what I tried to the feed to encourage others to do the same!
Wildlife
Plant (or Adopt) a Plant
Landscaping with native plants, gardening, and having plants inside can have benefits for nature and our health. I will plant or adopt a new plant or grow one from seeds and post a photo of it to the feed.
Health and Well-Being
Reduce Refined Sugar
Cutting back on refined sugar can improve energy, mood, and overall health. I will limit my intake of sugary snacks and drinks by reducing refined sugar in meals or snacks each day.
Health and Well-Being
Replace a Product
Small changes can make a big difference for health and sustainability. Using what I learned from auditing ingredients in the products I use, I will replace 3 toxic or harmful products I use with safer, eco-friendly alternatives.
Community and Connection
Attend a Local Event
Local events such as farmers' markets, festivals, or community meetings like town halls are great ways to feel part of a community. I will attend 2 community events to connect with others and learn more about my area.
Community and Connection
Host a Gathering
Bringing people together helps strengthen bonds. I will organize and host a gathering, such as a potluck, coffee meet up, or shared meal, for friends, family, colleagues, or neighbors to foster connection and community spirit.
Land, Water, and Air
Calculate My Carbon Impact
Knowing our carbon footprint is the first step to reducing it. I will calculate my carbon impact and identify lifestyle changes that could reduce the carbon footprint and impacts on the environment. I will share my commitments to lowering my impact on the feed.
Land, Water, and Air
Save Water When Washing Dishes
Dishwashers can save water — if used wisely. I will only run the dishwasher when it’s full and skip the pre-rinse to reduce water and energy use. If I don't have a dishwasher, I will turn off the tap as often as possible while washing dishes.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity and ConnectionWhat was the most rewarding part of bringing people together for a gathering? Did you experience any challenges in hosting, and if so, how did you overcome them?
Rosie Nunez 4/30/2025 8:31 PMThe most rewarding part of hosting a gathering was seeing everyone having a good time and connecting with each other. One challenge was making sure everything was organized, but I overcame it by planning ahead and getting help from others. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity and ConnectionWhat did you enjoy or learn from attending a local event in your community? How did participating in this event deepen your connection to your local area?
Rosie Nunez 4/30/2025 8:27 PMI enjoyed seeing all the fresh, local food at the farmers market and talking to the people who grew it. It helped me feel more connected to my community and appreciate where my food comes from. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity and ConnectionHow did checking in with someone strengthen your relationship or provide support? How did it feel to reach out and connect?
Rosie Nunez 4/30/2025 8:26 PMBy checking in with my friends who I don't talk to as often anymore, it felt nice to talk to them again and made me realize how important it is to have a support system and that being part of someone else's can be really important. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingWhat product did you replace, and why was it important to you? How do you feel about making a small change for a healthier, more sustainable home?
Rosie Nunez 4/30/2025 8:08 PMI tried replacing a few of the harsh chemical cleaners in my house with natural alternatives. These natural cleansers are more sustainable because they tend to be biodegradable and come in more eco friendly packaging which is better for the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now? What was the most challenging part of reducing refined sugar, and how did you overcome it?
Rosie Nunez 4/30/2025 8:04 PMBefore the challenge, I didn’t think I was addicted to sugar, but I realized I ate it more than I thought. Now I feel better and have more energy. The hardest part was skipping sweet snacks, but I opted for fruits instead. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet? What fruits or vegetables did you try this week, and which was your favorite?
Rosie Nunez 4/30/2025 8:03 PMEating more fruits and vegetables and less meat is good for my health because it gives me more nutrients and can lower the risk of some diseases. It also helps other people by reducing demand for meat which lowers greenhouse gas emissions. I tried eating more bell peppers which I ended up enjoying. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlifeHow did it feel to plant something, and what kind of gardening did you do (indoors, hydroponic, outside in a garden, etc)? What did you plant and where? Feel free to share a photo to the feed!
Rosie Nunez 4/30/2025 7:49 PMI planted spinach in my garden outside. It felt nice to do something new that would also benefit the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlifeWhat is one way you can reduce your impact on nature the next time you spend time outdoors, and how might that action help preserve the environment for others?
Rosie Nunez 4/30/2025 7:47 PMOne way I can reduce my impact on nature is by staying on marked trails to avoid damaging plants and wildlife. This is an easy thing I can do which helps keep the area healthy and enjoyable for others as well as maintaining a healthy ecosystem in my surroundings. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlifeHow did your experience go in trying an action to Leave No Trace? Did you notice others doing the same, or not? From a perspective of having empathy for others, why might people not adhere to the Leave No Trace principles?
Rosie Nunez 4/30/2025 7:43 PMTrying to follow leave no trace went pretty well. I made sure to pick up my trash and stay on trails. I noticed some people doing the same, but others weren’t as careful. I could see why some people might not follow the rules because they don’t know about them, or they might not realize the impact of their actions. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirWhat was the most unexpected piece of trash that was picked up during your local cleanup effort? How does working with others to clean up your community make you feel?
Rosie Nunez 4/29/2025 11:56 PMThe most unexpected pieces of trash that I found during my cleanup was a variety of dog or cat toys. Working with others to better my community made me feel good.
