Sebastian's actions

Land, Water, and Air

Understand My Water Footprint

Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.

Use Reusable Bags

Plastic bags do not always end up in landfills and if they aren't properly disposed of. In nature, they can be mistaken for food by many wild animals and harm wildlife. When I go shopping, I will be sure to bring my own bags to reduce waste and the chance that plastic bags could find their way into wildlife habitats.

Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION

I learned more about Greta Thunberg, a young activist who is also Swedish like me. One way I can support the work of young leaders is by re-posting their work and advocating for them on social media, and also donating to their cause.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community and Connection
What did you learn about the sacred site’s history and significance? Why are these sites important to protect, support, and understand?

    Sebastian Nilsson 4/29/2025 7:30 PM
I visited Old Town in San Diego, and I learned that it is the oldest settled place in San Diego and considered the birthplace of California. It is important to preserve these sites because they offer a look at the past, offer a sense of community, and provides stories of humans who came before us.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community and Connection
What new places or experiences did you discover in your local area? How has exploring your community changed your perspective or sense of connection?

    Sebastian Nilsson's avatar
    Sebastian Nilsson 4/29/2025 7:27 PM
    1) Birch Aquarium
    2) Maritime Museum
    3) Annie's Canyon

Exploring new places in my area changed my perspective my allowing me to realize that there are some many places, very close to me actually, that are very intriguing and interesting, and fun to explore.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community and Connection
How did checking in with someone strengthen your relationship or provide support? How did it feel to reach out and connect?

    Sebastian Nilsson's avatar
    Sebastian Nilsson 4/29/2025 7:20 PM
Checking in with one good friend daily provided support in a way that was meaningful and felt good just to reach out and ask about they're state of mind.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Well-Being
What did you do to prepare for extreme weather events? Share any tips or resources you found helpful in the feed!

I really just had a couple of rain jackets in my closet since San Diego doesn't really have any extreme weather events. But I had coats in my closet in case of pouring rain.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Well-Being
What motivated you to schedule or attend your check-up, and how did it make you feel afterward that you completed this action?

    Sebastian Nilsson's avatar
    Sebastian Nilsson 4/29/2025 7:05 PM
I haven't really had a check up in a while since I do not really have any nagging health issues, but it has been a while since I had one. After completing this action I felt good about not having to visit the doctors office for a while.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Well-Being
What did you notice about your thoughts or emotions during or after meditation? Did you find it easy or challenging to meditate?

    Sebastian Nilsson's avatar
    Sebastian Nilsson 4/29/2025 7:02 PM
I found it difficult to meditate at first since my mind is pretty all over the place, but once I got into a groove of doing it I noticed that I felt more relaxed and at ease. My thoughts went from very scattered to very calming to the point where I wasn't really thinking and more focused on breathing.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife
How did it feel to plant something, and what kind of gardening did you do (indoors, hydroponic, outside in a garden, etc)? What did you plant and where? Feel free to share a photo to the feed!

    Sebastian Nilsson 4/29/2025 6:49 PM
I took care of a small tree that I have in my room that I've had for a while, but I also got some new succulents for my moms desk.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife
How difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?

    Sebastian Nilsson's avatar
    Sebastian Nilsson 4/29/2025 6:42 PM
This wasn't difficult at all because my mom has bags of her own that she uses every time that we go out shopping, and my dad often reuses Trader Joe's bags.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife
What is one way you can reduce your impact on nature the next time you spend time outdoors, and how might that action help preserve the environment for others?

    Sebastian Nilsson's avatar
    Sebastian Nilsson 4/29/2025 6:34 PM
One way I can reduce your impact on nature is that I pack out everything I have with me and leave the area just the way I found it.
