Keely's actions

What is resilience?

Reflect on My Own Resilience

Resilience is personal and collective. I will reflect on a time when I adapted to change in my own life, writing down what helped me and what I learned from the experience.

COMPLETED 24
DAILY ACTIONS

Soil and Food

Grow Something to Eat

Growing food builds resilience by connecting us to the soil and reducing reliance on long supply chains. I will grow edible plants—such as herbs, vegetables, or grains—in my home, balcony, or community space, strengthening both my food security and local biodiversity.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Take the Pre-Survey

Take the Pre-Event Survey

I’ll take a short pre-survey to share what motivated me to join — and earn 15 points! (If I already took the survey by email, I’ll just mark this action complete to get my points.)

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Personal

Go Get a Check Up

Regular health check-ups help prevent problems before they start. I will schedule or attend a medical, dental, or mental health check-up to take care of my well-being.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Community

Join a Group

Belonging to a group can help build friendships and a sense of purpose. I will explore online or in-person groups or clubs that share my interests or goals and join a group to connect with others.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Community

Swap and Share with Others

Swapping and sharing resources reduces waste and builds community bonds. I will participate in 2 swaps or sharing activities, like borrowing items, attending or hosting a swap meet, or giving away items I no longer need to support a sharing economy with friends, family, colleagues or neighbors.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Community

Host a Gathering

Bringing people together helps strengthen bonds. I will organize and host a gathering, such as a potluck, coffee meet up, or shared meal, for friends, family, colleagues, or neighbors to foster connection and community spirit.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Personal

Exercise Daily

Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 45 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.

COMPLETED 29
DAILY ACTIONS

Personal

Write in a Resilience Journal

Reflection helps us adapt and grow. I will spend 5 minutes writing in a journal about challenges I face, the strengths I use, and what helps me thrive.

COMPLETED 24
DAILY ACTIONS

Personal

Meditate

Meditation helps build resilience and clarity. I will spend 5 minutes each day to meditate or create a moment of silence each day to reflect on things important to me.

COMPLETED 27
DAILY ACTIONS

What is resilience?

Notice Resilience Around Me

Resilience shows up in many places. I will look for one example of resilience in my surroundings—whether in my community, work, or daily life—and reflect on what it teaches me about adapting to change.

Use that insurance if you have it! I was able to schedule a few checkups this month and get a supplement refund approved finally.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
How did you participate in the sharing economy? (Consider posting a photo!) What are the benefits of sharing resources, and how does this strengthen resilience in your relationships and community?

I brought clothing to the swap at KEEN and I love knowing the leftovers go to a local shelter that gives away the clothing. It is a great way to be frugal is asking what you need from your community before buying new also great for the environment to reuse what already exists.

The clothing swap is a win-win for everyone! Cleaning your closet, finding a hidden gem or two in the swap, and then donating all that is left to the shelter.

Sometimes it feels so silly how simple tasks can boost your mood. And the "stuff" experts say works really does work which sometimes feels so annoying that they are right about it.

The resilience of plants is amazing. Watching the trees grow leaves and turn green is great.

I agree, the resilience of plants is truly amazing. It’s inspiring to see how trees change with the seasons and keep growing stronger.

I am trying to shop in person more to support brick and motor stores. I have purchased less stuff over the past year and the purchases I do make are more enjoyable. It almost feels like a treasure hunt to think about where a certain item might be found.

We are gradually reducing purchases via Amazon. There are so many ethical concerns with Amazon that I can't feel good about buying from them.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Soil and Food
What did you decide to grow, and how did it feel to start (or care for) your plants? What connections did it give you to soil or food resilience?

Last year I moved into a house with a yard for the first time and we have blueberry and gooseberry plants growing and those will produce fruit in 1-3 years excited to have home grown berries!
