In light of all the new work I did this month, it's still very difficult to get out of my comfort zone. I don't walk outside very much and only commute from school, work, and home so there's not a lot of chances for me to consciously make change. I started due to a school requirement but I see the benefit in helping out my community and environment. I think that I would want to continue this work if other people I knew did it too, but life for them is too busy right now to stop and smell the trees.

  Angela, it is a really good point about how it helps to do some of these efforts together. It is nice to have the social support, motivation, and accountability. The Ecochallenge community gives me some sense of that, so I am glad that we can include this event in our class.

How does volunteering enhance your community and/or change your relationship with it?

I really do like the people who I helped at Operation Nightwatch in Portland. I do recommend it as the team is super dedicated and each have their own distinct personalities. It feels like I became part of a sitcom matchup with all the weird stuff that happened.

Oops sorry forgot to take a pic, I swear I cleaned up. Anyways, there was a LOT of cigarettes, I was like "damn, everybody and their mama be smoking everywhere." I think people should clean up cigarettes as an anti-tobacco commercial just sayin
