Enjoy the Outdoors for 30 Minutes

Studies have shown that when we spend consistent time in nature, our health improves, our creativity increases, and our connection to the planet gets stronger. Each day of the Ecochallenge, I will spend 30 minutes outside, then share my observations, reflections, and learnings on the feed.

Save Water When Washing Dishes

Dishwashers can save water — if used wisely. I will only run the dishwasher when it’s full and skip the pre-rinse to reduce water and energy use. If I don't have a dishwasher, I will turn off the tap as often as possible while washing dishes.

Reduce Food Waste

Wasting food also wastes water, energy, and resources. • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land, Water, and Air
What was hard about having a Zero Waste Day? What did you learn about yourself and your habits?

A zero waste day makes me aware of the quantity of garbage, recyclables, and/or food scraps that I could have daily. I compost food scraps and eat a vegetarian diet, so that helps to eliminate food going into the garbage.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Sustainable Innovation
What sustainable product did you purchase, and how does it align with your values?

I purchased these products: A refillable bamboo floss holder and charcoal floss, laundry detergent as a bar that dissolves in water (no plastic container), and flannel cloths to use instead of paper towels. These products will reduce or eliminate waste.
