    Alice Mitchell 4/30/2025 7:30 PM
I learned about Greta Thunberg. What inspired me most was her passion. To support the work of young leaders in my community, I joined Youth Advocates at Mission Bay, a club devoted to creating youth leaders.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Empowering the Next Generation
What did you learn about the youth climate activists you supported, and how do their efforts inspire you?

    Alice Mitchell's avatar
    Alice Mitchell 4/30/2025 7:29 PM
I learned that many youth climate activists today practice what they preach. They generate close to no waste and are mindful of how much energy they consume. Their efforts inspire me to do the same.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Empowering the Next Generation
What impressed you most about the youth-led project you supported, and how did your involvement help?

    Alice Mitchell's avatar
    Alice Mitchell 4/30/2025 7:28 PM
In my club Youth Advocates, I am helping set up a mental health awareness event on campus. My involvement will help set up the table and communicate with others to advocate for mental health.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife
What did you learn about how tourism impacts wildlife, and how can you make more conscious choices when planning a trip? How do you think your travel decisions can contribute to wildlife conservation and respectful interactions with nature?

    Alice Mitchell's avatar
    Alice Mitchell 4/30/2025 5:20 PM
I learned that tourists often produce a lot of plastic waste and are often not very respectful of wildlife (taking photos for instance). Poor travel decisions (overpacking, generating excess waste) can hurt wildlife conservation.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Are you a gardener or house plant lover? Why or why not? What do you need to elevate your plant care skills?

    Alice Mitchell's avatar
    Alice Mitchell 4/30/2025 5:19 PM
I'm a gardener because my family grows our own produce. To elevate my plant care skills, I need a bigger understanding of how much water my plant needs.

      • 16-DAY STREAK
Unless it’s a succulent, I always check by feel! If I stick my hand in the dirt and the top two to three inches are dry, it’s time to water! This can be as often as daily, or as rarely as once every two weeks. I’m sure you’ve got this! :)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife
How did your experience go in trying an action to Leave No Trace? Did you notice others doing the same, or not? From a perspective of having empathy for others, why might people not adhere to the Leave No Trace principles?

    Alice Mitchell's avatar
    Alice Mitchell 4/30/2025 5:18 PM
It was pretty easy to Leave No Trace, all I really had to do was avoid littering. I noticed others doing the same. People might not adhere to the Leave No Trace principles because they might see an interesting rock or plant and think taking it won't cause any harm to the ecosystem.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Sustainable Innovation
What actions did you take to advocate for sustainable food packaging, and how were they received? How do you think widespread changes in food packaging could benefit the planet?

    Alice Mitchell's avatar
    Alice Mitchell 4/27/2025 1:31 PM
To advocate for sustainable food packaging, I refrained from eating individually wrapped foods or ordering anything that generates plastic waste (like takeout). Widespread changes in food packing could benefit the world through less usage of plastic.
