Alina's actions
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Seek Alternative Gifts and Souvenirs
When traveling, I will seek souvenirs that support local communities and do not cause harm to the environment or wildlife.
Climate + Air
Use Public Transit
Public transportation reduces pollution, improves community, and creates safe streets. I will use public transit 14 miles per day and avoid sending up to (___) lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Volunteer in my Community
I will volunteer 1 hours in my community.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Invest in Nature
A healthy world needs both our daily actions and support from larger systems. I will spend 5 minutes learning about how I can use my investments and savings to advance environmental sustainability.
Freshwater + Oceans
Join a Cleanup Effort
I will organize or participate in a trash pickup at a local river, beach, or natural body of water.
Freshwater + Oceans
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
Itr's estimated over a billion water bottles are thrown away each year. Even if they were recycled, that still uses energy and resources from the earth. I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 4 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Freshwater + Oceans
Cooking Oil Disposal
Pouring cooking oil down the drain can cause damage to waterways and ecosystems. I will learn how to properly dispose of cooking oil to help support healthy ecosystems.
Freshwater + Oceans
Go Plastic-Free
Millions of tons of plastic is produced each year worldwide. Each day, I will conduct a plastics audit of what I buy and use throughout the challenge (kitchen, bathroom, personal care products, etc.), to see how single-use plastic shows up in my life. I will find plastic-free alternatives to these products and advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, product manufacturers, at work, or on campus.
Action Track: Community
Raise Awareness for the Conservation of Freshwater and Oceans
I will spend 10 minutes learning more about the importance of freshwater + ocean conservation, and how I can reduce my water use. I will share what I learn with people in person, on social media, and on the feed.
Action Track: Community
Keep My Community Clean
At times it may not feel like it's up to us to keep our community clean and healthy, but we all have a role to play. Each day I am outside, I will pick up any litter I see.
Action Track: Community
Borrow Before I Buy
Why buy something I will only use once or a few times if someone nearby has it for me to borrow, and why not share something I have that someone may only need a few times a year? To reduce my consumption and waste, I will create or support the sharing economy with friends, family, colleagues or neighbors.
Action Track: Community
JOIN OR CREATE A GREEN TEAM AT EMERSON
I will continue to contribute to Emerson's environmental sustainability goals beyond April by learning more about the Global Green Teams Network, joining a team near me, or maybe even creating a new team.
Action Track: Community
SIGN UP TO RECEIVE NEWS ON SUSTAINABILITY AT EMERSON
I will sign up to the Sustainability Aficionados distribution list to receive global news on sustainability at Emerson, including world news and Greening OF, BY, and WITH news.
Action Track: Community
TAKE PICTURES AND SHARE ON LINKEDIN
I will take at least one photograph that is connected with this year's theme of Nature Conservation & Biodiversity (for example an urban park, bee hives, birds and other animals...) and I will post it on LinkedIn with the hashtags #EarthMonthEcochallenge #EarthMonthAtEmerson.
Participant Feed

REFLECTION QUESTIONBiodiversity + Wildlife Volunteer in my CommunityHow does volunteering enhance your community and/or change your relationship with it?
Alina Mican 4/24/2024 7:43 PMVolunteering strengthens each of us our ties to the community and exposes to people with similar interests.
Volunteering also gives the opportunity to practise and develop our social skills. Because volunteering keeps me in regular contact with others, it can help to develop a solid support base.-
Nicoleta Lupoaie 4/25/2024 1:27 AMVolunteering often involves interacting with people from different backgrounds and circumstances. This fosters empathy, understanding, and appreciation for diversity, leading to a more compassionate and inclusive community. -
Laura Sumlea 4/24/2024 10:48 PMVolunteering is about others, about the community we are interacting. -
Parinita Gaydhane 4/24/2024 7:46 PMVolunteering gives us exposure to different opportunities, culture and peoples.

REFLECTION QUESTIONBiodiversity + Wildlife Seek Alternative Gifts and SouvenirsHow do your consumption choices affect the health of wildlife and other communities?
Alina Mican 4/24/2024 4:35 AMAt this stage, it is not an option but it is a must to choose wisely in your day to day needs to limit extra-consumption and to be part of this great project, which, in fact, is in our benefit.-
Nicoleta Lupoaie 4/24/2024 5:55 AMBy making more sustainable consumption choices, such as reducing waste, choosing environmentally friendly products, supporting ethical and sustainable brands, and advocating for responsible consumption and production practices, individuals can help mitigate these negative impacts and promote the health and well-being of wildlife and other communities.

Alina Mican 4/22/2024 11:37 AMWould anyone want to share his/her experience in this challenge? Is at least one bad habit you’ve changed or you considered will be change after finishing the Earth month eco challenge ?
I definitely continue to encourage people to be more involved in saving our Earth by keeping clean the environment, spending time as volunteer in environment actions, being perseverant and an good example for community. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Community Borrow Before I BuyHow did you participate in the sharing economy? (Consider posting a photo!) What are the benefits of a sharing economy? How could a sharing economy change the dynamics you have with friends, family and/or neighbors?
Alina Mican 4/22/2024 11:27 AMStarting from the principle sharing is caring I implement first with my daughter and my niece by borrow clothes. Action help us to save some important amount of water for manufacturing the clothes and also waste of time to shopping area, time which have been redeemed in mother nature and helping community to understand the importance of saving and the role we all have in saving the Earth. Small steps represent big impact on future Earth. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFreshwater + Oceans Go Plastic-FreeWhere did plastic show up on your life that surprised you the most? What plastic alternative products did you discover you may switch to?
Alina Mican 4/20/2024 9:25 AMPackaging the goods on the market. A lot of waste using these and such alternative I starting to use, some years ago, reusable bags and avoid to pack anything in plastic. The feeling that, with such small things, I contribute for limited plastics usage is something that give me hope for a better future for our children and us. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFreshwater + Oceans Cooking Oil DisposalDid anything about this action surprise you? Do you use more or less oil than you thought?
Alina Mican 4/20/2024 9:19 AMI will rather not say that surprise me but definitely I became more responsible and careful about this.
Amazing how our “not ok habits” can be turn in good habits only listening, learning and after that applying it in our daily routine, with free energy consumption.
