I used to be addicted to sugar. I usually have the habit of a having small sweet like Chocolate or cookies especially after lunch. Initially I didn't think this would become a habit but over time I realized I wasn't eating it for joy anymore. I was eating because I felt I had to eat it to feel better.
I decided to a little experiment, decided not to take any sugar for 7 days, no added sugar, no cakes and I stopped having my morning Tea, instead I took only hot water. The first few days were very hard, I felt insane carvings to sweets, but I controlled my emotion. After 7 days I felt I had more energy and my mood was steady, and I stopped wanting sugar like I actually didn’t miss it. Then I decided to continue this for another 30 days.
Here is what I gained by giving up sugar
· Energy that lasts all day.
· Way better sleep
· Feeling in control What I eat
Now I am not saying I will never eat sugar again, but I have totally reset my relationship with it. I eat it because I choose to not because I need it.
If you have ever thought about trying a sugar challenge -I encourage you to do it. It’s not easy at first, but the clarity and energy on the other side worth every carving.
