"As a human being living in this great ecosystem, it is important to me that I do my part to help sustain life, because when the earth begins to disintegrate so will we. As a designer, I want to incorporate green materials into spaces where families spend 90% of their time and ensure that I have done my part to create a more safer and healthier environment for people and the younger generation coming behind us."

Take the Pre-Survey
Take the Pre-Event Survey
I’ll take a short pre-survey to share what motivated me to join — and earn 15 points! (If I already took the survey by email, I’ll just mark this action complete to get my points.)
COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION
What is resilience?
Share a Resilience Story
Stories connect and inspire us. I will share 1 resilience stories—either from my life, my community, or from a leader or culture I admire—through conversations, social media, or the event feed to help others see resilience in action.
COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION
What is resilience?
Learn About Community Resilience
Communities can adapt to challenges and grow stronger together. I will spend 30 minutes learning about how communities prepare for and respond to change, and how collective action builds resilience.

DAILY ACTIONS
Action Track
Reducing Plastic footprint to reduce less plastic in landfills
I have been tracking my drinking water consumption intake since February 2, 2026. I am using a reusable stainless steel water container instead of plastic bottles. Also, I am using tap water and plan on getting a standalone water filter for future use.
COMPLETED 30
DAILY ACTIONS
Soil and Food
Compost My Food Waste
Composting turns waste into a resource, building soil health and cutting methane emissions from landfills. I will compost food scraps at home, school, or in my community, which avoids sending up to 0.42 lbs (0.19 kg) of food waste to the landfill per day.

DAILY ACTIONS
Personal
Reduce Refined Sugar
Cutting back on refined sugar can improve energy, mood, and overall health. I will limit my intake of sugary snacks and drinks by reducing refined sugar in meals or snacks each day.

Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.

ONE-TIME ACTION

Learn How to Save Pollinators
Bees and other pollinators are vital to ecosystems and agriculture. I will spend 15 minutes learning how to support local pollinators and take at least one action—such as planting native flowers or avoiding pesticides—to help sustain resilient ecosystems and harvests.

Reflect on My Own Resilience
Resilience is personal and collective. I will reflect on a time when I adapted to change in my own life, writing down what helped me and what I learned from the experience.

Act of kindness
Saturday, I am going to help a close relative who has experienced health challenges this past couple years clean inside their house.
I am really enjoying learning about new subjects, reading articles and posts on ways to improve and help our environment, and learning more about my self-awareness.
Breaking up with sugar is so hard! It was only a few years ago that I stopped pouring tons of it into my coffee. And now I'm going to stop talking about sugar because it's Easter and I figure this and Halloween are days where it's unrealistic to expect folks to avoid it. :) Good luck to you. Neyleasha!
I am reading about composting. Now that I am buying more fruits, veggies, and herbs, I have been thinking about composting more. But I am not sure how I can accomplish this living in an apartment. Any suggestions?
Do you have a Balcony you could do some composting out there. They also make composting containers they are a little pricey but could be a good investment . Google it!
Spent a little time learning about a new subject-community resilience. I read an article plus watched a Tedtalk of how a group of young Native Americans came together to strengthen their community and restore their way of life. I learned how it's important to have a plan in place amongst a unified group of people-the citizens in a community, government, health care, food organizations-helps create a faster recovery team and faster results when a natural or human caused disaster occurs. I shared a pic of my reusable Aldi bags to eliminate paper and plastic waste.
That’s really insightful—understanding community resilience and the power of unity is so important, and it’s great to see you applying that learning through sustainable actions like using reusable bags..
I went to Aldi to get some fresh produce. I bought to reusable Aldi bags instead of using the paper bags. Thinking about the trees that are constantly being cut down which provides oxygen, shade, and homes for specific creatures/animals. Also, thinking about reducing my plastic footprint at the landfills.
Community resilience, I have never heard of until today. It was very interesting to read and watch the Ted talk. I learned that community resilience equals building strong community connections, and in the word commUNITY we have unity. Government, health care systems, food banks, and communities have to come together in times of disasters to have plans in place to help people get back on their feet mentally and physically.
What story did you share, and how did it feel to share it? Did telling or hearing resilience stories shift how you think about strength and adaptability?
I shared how I didn't meet my water intake goal, I didn't get my steps in today, nor did I eat at my set time but before it but as long as I don't stop and keep moving is motivation for me to keep going. It felt great to share it with others.
My resilience story...I have begun my journey of eating better so I can feel better. I am not focus so much on losing the weight at this moment but eating more natural organic foods which means cooking more. I feel like my life is on a time line every second and minute of the day. I didn't get my steps in today nor yesterday, I didn't begin my intermittent fasting at my usual time but I ate earlier due to a little bit of lack of discipline, nor did I get my 130 ounces of water in today nor yesterday. But that is okay..resilience is about bouncing back. If at first you don't succeed, dust your self off and try again. Tomorrow is a new day. As long as I don't stop but keep going is motivation enough for me.
