Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Pollinators provide many benefits to humans and the environment. Some of the benefits of pollinators include: Food Production: Without pollinators, many of the fruits, vegetables, and nuts that we eat would not be able to grow.Oct
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife
How did it feel to plant something, and what kind of gardening did you do (indoors, hydroponic, outside in a garden, etc)? What did you plant and where? Feel free to share a photo to the feed!

    Anthony Martinez 4/30/2025 11:47 PM
Planting something made me feel responsible and protective. I want my plant to grow and thrive. I did indoor planting and had the plant near alot of sunlight and I watered it almost every day. I planted flower seeds and they started sprouting.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife
What species did you discover and log? Why do you think that logging species can help protect them?

    Anthony Martinez's avatar
    Anthony Martinez 4/30/2025 11:31 PM
I logged both bears and salmon. Discovering and logging species, especially through sustainable practices, can contribute to species protection by enhancing forest health, promoting biodiversity, and potentially preventing the spread of disease and forest fires. Selective logging, where only certain trees are removed, can allow other species to thrive, create diverse habitats, and help manage forest ecosystems.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Empowering the Next Generation
How did participating in a bio-blitz with young people enhance their understanding of local biodiversity? What impact do you think activities like a bio-blitz have on inspiring youth to protect nature?

    Anthony Martinez's avatar
    Anthony Martinez 4/30/2025 10:48 PM
BioBlitzes provide a direct, hands-on experience in observing and identifying different species of plants, animals, and other organisms within a specific area. Young people learn about the roles different species play within their ecosystem, including their interconnectedness and importance for a healthy environment.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Empowering the Next Generation
What did you learn about the youth climate activists you supported, and how do their efforts inspire you?

    Anthony Martinez's avatar
    Anthony Martinez 4/30/2025 10:43 PM
Youth activists are very good in engaging with policymakers to shape environmental policies that align with sustainable practices. Through petitions, meetings, and participation in international forums, young advocates ensure that their perspectives are considered in the decision-making processes.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Empowering the Next Generation
What perspectives or ideas did you hear from young people, and how did they challenge or expand your understanding of environmental issues? Did anything surprise you that they had to say?

    Anthony Martinez's avatar
    Anthony Martinez 4/30/2025 10:36 PM
I heard many young people were interested in planning events like green initiatives and reorganising tree planting helps the young generation to understand the importance. These events help young people to understand the importance of preserving natural resources. Once they physically evolve in nature they can have a better understanding.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community and Connection
What skill or service did you offer, and how did it impact someone in your community? How did sharing your expertise or time help you feel more connected to others?

    Anthony Martinez's avatar
    Anthony Martinez 4/26/2025 2:11 PM
I offered to teach my dad how to properly use the computer. He typically asks me if I can help him find what he is looking for but I thought him how he can do it for himself. Sharing a skill or service can make you feel connected to others because it shows you have their back whenever its needed and theyre here for you too.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community and Connection
What new places or experiences did you discover in your local area? How has exploring your community changed your perspective or sense of connection?

    Anthony Martinez's avatar
    Anthony Martinez 4/26/2025 1:54 PM
A new place I discovered recently was a park right next to the bay in Chula Vista. I knew it was in construction but I didn't know it was finally open. The Gaylord Hotel is finally open and so a new community full of people will be attracted to Chula Vista. Exploring your community can foster a deeper sense of connection by broadening your perspective, highlighting shared values and experiences, and revealing the unique strengths and challenges within your local area.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Anthony Martinez 4/26/2025 1:41 PM
Establishing a good relationship with your neighbors creates a supportive network within your community. For instance, having friendly neighbors can be invaluable in an emergency or time of need. They're there to provide help, offer resources, and contribute to a sense of support and safety.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Anthony Martinez 4/26/2025 12:45 PM
A sustainable community prioritizes environmental protection, social equity, and economic viability, ensuring it can meet the needs of its residents without compromising future generations. To achieve this, fundamental shifts are needed in how we consume resources, produce energy, and interact with our environment.
