Meditate
Meditation helps build resilience and clarity. I will spend 15 minutes each day to meditate or create a moment of silence each day to reflect on things important to me.

Purchasing choices can strengthen community resilience. I will direct 1 of my organization’s purchases or events toward local or minority-owned businesses, helping build diverse and resilient economies.

Too much artificial light can confuse and harm animals, especially those active at night. I will reduce sources of outdoor light or switch to wildlife-friendly fixtures to support healthy habitats.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWhat is resilience? What story did you share, and how did it feel to share it? Did telling or hearing resilience stories shift how you think about strength and adaptability?
Atziri Lopez 4/26/2026 7:45 PMI talked about the first time I tried to repair a piece of clothing instead of just tossing it out. It was a total mess at first, but finally finishing it felt surprisingly empowering. In my opinion, it felt good to share because it’s a small thing, but it’s a form of resilience against the “fast fashion” culture we’re used to. It made me think of strength as a form of persistence, staying committed to a more sustainable choice even when it’s more work than the alternative. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWork and OrganizationsHow did working together on an environmental project strengthen relationships in your group? What does this teach you about resilience in organizations?
Atziri Lopez 4/26/2026 7:39 PMI believe it helped reinforce that sense of community, and it made me proud to see that the people who I call my friends share the same love that I have for the planet. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBiodiversity and WildlifeWhat lights did you reduce or change, and how might this help wildlife near you?
Atziri Lopez 4/19/2026 11:45 PMTo begin, I completely turned off my porch and patio lights in the evenings in order to reduce the amount of outdoor light, and energy that I would normally use to go out and read a book. I did this because I thought to myself, “ I can take advantage of the sun that we’ve been getting in the evenings and avoid turning off the lights and possibly disrupting any nearby critters. I personally really liked doing this because I found that I saved a lot of energy, helped our fellow animal friends, and I was also able to go and get some sun while it was nice out. I would highly recommend this to everyone! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWork and OrganizationsWhat business did you support, and what did you learn about them? How do purchasing choices like this help build stronger and more connected communities?
Atziri Lopez 4/19/2026 11:38 PMThis week I was able to purchase from a small, Latina owned coffee stand that specialized in matcha, which quickly became an addiction of mine, haha. I learned that this business owner is currently putting herself through college, and all the proceeds that she makes from her coffee stand go to her education, family, and coffee stand. I believe that by supporting a business like this, you’re not only fulfilling a craving, but you’re supporting someone to better their lifestyle, education, and family. Lastly, I think it helped me build a stronger sense of community because the owner, Alo, took the time to chat with me and I realized we shared a lot in common that I normally wouldn’t expect. It was an overall lovely experience, and I would 100% do it again. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWork and OrganizationsWhat success did you celebrate, and how did it impact your team’s morale? How can celebrating together help prepare us for future challenges?
Atziri Lopez 4/19/2026 11:33 PMI invited my friends out yesterday night to celebrate getting through the first week, of our last term here at PCC before graduating. I believe that this celebration brought us together through food, sharing stories, and giving advice to one another in order to end off the year strong, and reflect on the time’s we’ve shared together. I believe that by celebrating together we are able to build community, and a strong foundation in which we feel loved, supported, and prepared to confront any future challenges. I love my friends! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSoil and FoodWhere did your surplus food go, and who did it benefit? How does sharing food strengthen resilience in your community?
Atziri Lopez 4/12/2026 11:03 PMMy surplus food went to this small wooden box that we have in my neighborhood, and essentially anyone can drop off canned food or other goods that you want to donate to members of our community. It’s a first come first serve system so whoever needs it can grab what they need and also leave anything if they’d like to, I think it’s a neat idea and this challenge encouraged me to donate a couple cans of ravioli that I thought someone would enjoy. In addition, I believe sharing food strengthens the residence in my community because it gives everyone the ability and dignity to get what they need, without feeling shamed. To add, it also allows everyone to come closer as a community for our neighbors who might need a little extra help, and overall I think it’s sweet to have neighbors who care enough about one another to have built this box for everyone and anyone to use. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonalWhat did you notice about your thoughts or emotions during or after meditation? How might mindfulness or calmness support your well-being day to day?
Atziri Lopez 4/12/2026 10:57 PMAfter meditating I felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders, and I particularly noticed that I had more mental clarity and optimism. In the other hand, before meditating I often caught myself having brain fog, feeling tired, and even overwhelmed when I didn’t perform my meditation before beginning my school work. I quickly learned that meditation was an essential task to my everyday life that I didn’t know I needed. Overall, it was a great experience and I highly recommend it!-

REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonalHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet? What fruits or vegetables did you try this week, and which was your favorite?
Atziri Lopez 4/12/2026 10:51 PMEating more fruits and vegetables instead of meat made me feel more energetic, rather than drowsy. I typically nap at some point after 6 PM, but after eating banana’s, blueberries, and strawberries as snacks I didn’t feel the need to nap or eat junk food. I felt like it filled me up, and I didn’t feel that temptation to snack on candy or chips. In addition, I would say I particularly enjoyed eating a combination of the blueberries and banana’s, it was super yummy!-
