Take the Pre-Survey
Take the Pre-Event Survey
I’ll take a short pre-survey to share what motivated me to join — and earn 15 points! (If I already took the survey by email, I’ll just mark this action complete to get my points.)
What is resilience?
Share a Definition of Resilience
Sharing builds common understanding. I will share 3 definitions of resilience that resonate with me—through conversations, social media, or the event feed—to help others explore what resilience means.
Work and Organizations
Host a Cleanup Event with Colleagues
Shared projects at work strengthen teams and build organizational resilience. I will host or join 1 cleanup events with colleagues, classmates, or group members to improve our environment and strengthen collaboration.
Work and Organizations
Recognize Someone’s Contribution
Recognition strengthens trust and connection. I will recognize 1 people in my organization for their contributions, showing appreciation that helps build resilience and morale.
Water
Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Personal
Reduce Refined Sugar
Cutting back on refined sugar can improve energy, mood, and overall health. I will limit my intake of sugary snacks and drinks by reducing refined sugar in meals or snacks each day.
Community
Connect with Someone
Strong communities are built on connection and trust. I will reach out to 1 others—friends, colleagues, or neighbors—to check in, have a meaningful conversation, offer support, or to meet someone new near me.
Water
Mulch the Base of Trees and Plants
Mulching helps soil hold water and reduces runoff. I will mulch the base of trees or other plants at home, school, or in my community to improve water retention and soil health.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Reduce Light Pollution
Too much artificial light can confuse and harm animals, especially those active at night. I will reduce sources of outdoor light or switch to wildlife-friendly fixtures to support healthy habitats.
Soil and Food
Grow new foods
I'm a year 3 gardener, had success with a few things but need to expand. I want to successfully grow 5 new crops this summer.
Soil and Food
Garden Variety
Learn how to identify more plants and weeds in the backyard garden. Walk the garden daily to notice seedling sprouts and grow.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Learn About Local Keystone Species
Some species are especially important because they help keep whole ecosystems in balance. I will spend 5 minutes learning about a keystone species near me and how it supports biodiversity and resilience.

Today I learned about the keystone species Pacific Salmon, which lead me to learning about ocean acidification. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonalBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now? What was the most challenging part of reducing refined sugar, and how did you overcome it?
Rikki Landry 4/04/2026 3:37 PMReducing sugar isn't something I've been able to effectively do yet. I am very aware that I am deeply addicted to sugar, and even though I am checking into ecochallenge daily and being reminded of this challenge... I can't seem to make progress on this commitment. Hoping to make steps in the right direction soon -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBiodiversity and WildlifeWhat did you learn about the keystone species you chose, and how does it help keep the ecosystem around it in balance?
Rikki Landry 4/04/2026 3:34 PM- Adventurer 🏔
Today I learned about a local keystone species: Oregon White Oak Tree. I learned that oaks provide food for more species of moths and butterflies than any other native plant, and their ability to heal damage from broken limbs resulting in the creation of cavities within living trees provides shelter for cavity nesting animals. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityHow did reaching out strengthen your connection with friends, colleagues, or neighbors? In what ways do these personal connections build resilience in your community?
Rikki Landry 4/01/2026 4:22 PM- Adventurer 🏔
I asked a friend to join me on a hike today. It was cold and rainy the whole time. My friend was a bit miserable, but we bonded over cheering 'YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS'. Our friendship is filled with years of similar stories of her being miserable on hikes with me, but I know she enjoys that I push her to do things she wouldn't otherwise do.
