  • Reflection Question

How did you incorporate using an entire vegetable (skins, peels, tops, and stalks) during one of your meal preps? What's something new you're going to try that is a zero-waste meal practice?

    Economy & Communities Mend Clothing
What was it like to mend your clothing? If you are skilled at mending, what tips do you have for others?

I had no experience mending clothes but figured it out quite quickly by just putting a thread in. I was able to repair a hole in this thrifted pair of jeans, hence extending the life cycle of this pair of jeans for many more years + prevent it from going to the landfill!

I was able to volunteer at a local urban farm in New Haven that is promoting organic practices. It was great to remove weeds for the upcoming growing season in Spring! It made me realize how much work it takes to grow our food. Please try to avoid creating food waste by buying what you need or freezing any extra veggies where possible!

If more people have a predominately plant-based diet, this will lower our emissions significantly as meat production requires many natural resources and lead to greater GHGs.
