Wildlife

Enjoy a Meatless Meal

Producing 1 kg of beef emits as much greenhouse gas as driving 150 miles, meanwhile, 1 kg of veggies or grains leaves a much lighter footprint! This week, I’ll shrink my climate impact by having 2 meatless meals and/or 1 vegan meals each day.

DAILY ACTIONS

Wildlife

Make Smart Seafood Choices

I will visit seafoodwatch.org or download the app and commit to making better seafood choices for a healthier ocean.

COMPLETED 4
DAILY ACTIONS

Land, Water, and Air

Reduce Food Waste

Wasting food also wastes water, energy, and resources. I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during the Ecochallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation, and commit to reducing my food waste throughout the challenge.

COMPLETED 2
DAILY ACTIONS

Health and Well-Being

Share a Health or Well-being Resource

Sharing knowledge helps others nurture their well-being. Through social media, in the Ecochallenge feed, or in conversations, I will share 5 health or well-being resources with friends, family, or my community to promote a healthier, more resilient world.

Produce No Waste for a Day

The impacts of our waste are far reaching. I will create zero waste for an entire day and share my reflections and learnings on the feed.

Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

    Land, Water, and Air
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money? What patterns did you notice in the food you threw away, and how can you address them?

    • 4-DAY STREAK
I would rather spend it on other things like furniture or food that I would eat, and not throw away as much food. It's better to spend the money on food you know you like and won't throw away, or if it isn't rotten and you just don't like it you should donate it or give it to animals if they would eat it.

How was your experience intentionally trying to eat less meat?

I found out what vegetables I like and don't like and also tried different soups with no meat.

I learned that pink salmon from Washington is the best type of pink salmon because it's caught with lift nets.
