COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Land, Water, and Air

Reduce Food Waste

Wasting food also wastes water, energy, and resources. I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during the Ecochallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation, and commit to reducing my food waste throughout the challenge.

COMPLETED 30
DAILY ACTIONS

Wildlife

Learn to be a Responsible Tourist

Being a responsible tourist means not disturbing wildlife and choosing eco-friendly tour operators and destinations that prioritize wildlife conservation and respect animal welfare. I will spend 30 minutes researching ways to travel responsibly to ensure my adventures support, rather than harm, wildlife and their habitats.

Plastic bags do not always end up in landfills and if they aren't properly disposed of. In nature, they can be mistaken for food by many wild animals and harm wildlife. Earth's amazing facts day30:
There are almost surely more planets like ours. Space scientists have found evidence of Earth-like planets orbiting distant stars, including an alien planet called Kepler 22-b circling in the habitable zone of a star much like ours.

However, Earth is the only planet in the known universe that is confirmed to host life, so whether any of these planets will harbor life is an open question.

One of the surprising trashes that i found were old phones and chargers. Basically,, these are e-waste and need to be dumped through proper channel rather than with the usual waste.
Working with others to clean up a community often brings a sense of unity, shared purpose, and pride. There's something motivating about seeing collective action turn a neglected space into something beautiful again — it builds connection and makes the impact more visible.

I volunteer for an NGO Empower people, basically it works in empowering the bride trafficking survivors.
They have a channel called as Paro Voice on YouTube which is managed majorly by the survivors. Here we work with them in conducting interviews and podcasts with the eminent people such as doctors, social servers, teachers where they discuss various societal, health and personal issues and confusions.

I supported a sustainability project focused on e-waste reduction and women's empowerment, which deeply resonated with me. I volunteered with an NGO that ran a drive teaching bride trafficking survivors how to repair defective LED bulbs. This project not only diverted electronic waste from landfills but also gave these women practical skills to help them reclaim agency and financial independence. It showed me how sustainability can be deeply human-centered—when environmental efforts are tied to social justice, the impact is truly transformative.

Joining a group like this often makes people feel more connected because they’re part of something larger than themselves. It can provide a sense of shared purpose and mutual support, especially when the group is working toward a cause that matters deeply.

Not very local, but recently I visited Kasol.
Sometimes, exploring a place like Kasol can really shift your perspective—whether it’s reconnecting with nature, experiencing a different pace of life, or meeting people from all over the world.
For me, exploring places in general always brings a greater appreciation for how diverse life can be, and how much local culture can shape the overall vibe of a place.

The easy part was realizing how much of a difference it could make once I started bringing my own bags. They’re often sturdier, and I never had to worry about my groceries spilling out like I sometimes did with flimsy plastic bags.
The harder part was remembering to bring them. I had to get into the habit of keeping a stash of reusable bags everywhere.

What motivates me most is the intersectional impact: reducing utility bills for families, creating local green jobs, and improving public health by lowering pollution. It’s a rare example of a solution that touches social justice, environmental responsibility, and economic empowerment all at once.
When people can redirect savings from lower energy costs into education, healthcare, or starting a business—and when jobs are created right in those neighborhoods—it builds long-term resilience and autonomy.
