ONE-TIME ACTION

Health and Well-Being

Develop Innovations For Those Struggling With Drug And Substance Abuse

I chose this goal because I think that teens struggle immensely with substances and drugs, causing them to relapse, become depressed, and worsen their own well being. Through my innovations and prototype, I could make a positive impact on this crisis. Not only is it important to address the effects of substance abuse, but it is also one of the WHO's SDG 3 goals. I will also attempt to post my process on my feed.

COMPLETED 2

Exercise Daily

Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 30 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community and Connection
How and why do you feel connected to this place. Are there places you haven't been to that you want to visit? Did you notice any changes in your neighborhood that negatively affect the environment?

I have many memories at the Duke University gardens, a time when me and my family took a trip there. The scenery was so beautiful!

I currently really want to visit my local park, as I hadn't been there in a couple of months due to school.

Luckily, I haven't noticed any changes that negatively affect the environment in my neighborhood!

  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?

Exercising made me feel "alive" if that makes sense. It highlighted and signified the wonderful ways all my body systems work to keep my heart pumping and my body alive. I haven't exercised in a while ever since I quit martial arts, so when I first started, it was a bit tiring for me and my body ached after. But it was totally worth it. I am now slowly getting used to it. I also started walking outside more!

Decluttering and donating items made me feel gratitude for all of the things I have. Donating to those who are less fortunate is important, as a lot of stuff I have around my house is excessive and needs to be given to someone who needs it. I mostly donate clothes because my closet is quite full.

For good health and wellbeing, try doing a reset every few weeks! I do it all the time and it really helps my overall mood and productivity. Usually my reset day is the last day of a break, such as spring break, winter break, or even just on regular weekends. Here is what I try to accomplish on my "reset" day, usually Sunday night:

    • Tidy or Declutter your bedroom
    • Tidy or Declutter your office/study area
    • Go through your backpack and make sure things are where they belong
    • Clear any trash in the house
    • Spend an hour outside or exercising
    • Take a shower
    • Make sure you do not have any deadlines or important things to get done
    • Sleep early (around 9 pm for me)
These tasks are so rejuvenating and relaxing for me to do. It helps restart and uplift my mindset, helping me look forward to the next week, especially since I am still in school and I might need a mood booster to help me get through the day.

This is what welcoming mother nature looks like. Incorporating nature in to your home and letting plants follow their desired path lead to things like these. Gardening is also one of the many ways to show gratitude and love for all the diverse plants we have. Become nature's care taker! (I took this photo on a summer trip in Morocco! This was my cozy rental.)
