Unfortunately, we're having to get quite a tall tree removed. Makes me sad as it was here when we bought the property. It was damaged during a fall microburst and is now quite dangerous, one limb already went through roof about two feet from where I sit daily in my office. The good side is that we'll definitely plant a new one or two, and I'm donating the wood to a neighbor who will use to help heat home in Winter.

Great experience learning more about our environments and actions we can take. Then, the collective small teams demonstrate how our individual contributions to the whole can make a large difference. One of many examples is our team reporting almost 2,000 gallons of water saved!

Spending time outdoors with my grandkids helps me see the world through their eyes. The questions they ask or expressions they give when seeing an animal or other makes. When picking up litter with the youngest, she's in they 'why' stage with questions about reason trash is there to begin with. One day she even replied "but we have a trash can in the house". ")

Best reply ever....I've always wondered why people litter, who they think will pick up their trash and why is that ok?
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community and Connection
How did keeping your community more clean connect you more to your local area? Did picking up litter change your perspective on the cleanliness of your community?

I'm picking up litter whenever I'm out walking which is daily with my dog. I've realized over this month how much I'm actually finding in an area where property owners mostly take care of their own as much as able.

I enjoyed taking a walk with my dog before work early this morning. The sun was just rising, the air smelled fresh, and there was a mist coming up from the lake. It makes me thankful and reinforces the importance of our environment. It was also very relaxing until a rabbit ran past -- my pup wished he could chase!
