I get my cats food from a business called smalls and I think it’s amazing that the insulators they use to keep the food cold with dry ice is a corn-based styrofoam so it’s biodegradable and can actually be washed down the sink!
It’d be great if more business can be this innovative and sustainable when shipping out items that require styrofoam.

It’s such a wonderful sunny day outside I spent most of my morning and early afternoon outside weeding, laying out mulch and planting some new flowers in my pots. There’s honestly no better feeling when you come home from a day at work and seeing a nice looking garden with lots of flowers. Plus all the flowers are great for the bees when they come out in the spring/summer. -

I managed to snag these pants today during my lunch break, from Toad&Co. a business that is working towards sustainability to make sure landfills stay clean and using recycled materials any chance they have the opportunity to. Since I made a purchase with them I was able to choose which organization I wanted to donate a portion of the sale to and I chose Adventure Travel Conservation Fund.

our practiceOur approach to sustainability is holistic - we take a three pillar approach:
protectWe believe in the transformative power of playing outside, so protecting our playgrounds is crucial. We’re committed to several initiatives including responsible material choices and plastic free packaging.
conserveWe share finite resources, so we are working on our mission to continue to make durable products and employ more circular practices that breathe new life into materials that would otherwise be discarded.
empowerWe wouldn’t be able to create apparel you love without people in every step of our supply chain. We’re committed to empowering the communities where our factories are located by partnering with organizations RISE and Planet Water Foundation.
our partnersOn a local level, we seek to protect, conserve, and empower through partnerships with organizations like Access Fund, Planet Water Foundation, RISE, and Surfrider Foundation.

Dr Martens are my favorite shoe brand and typically the only brand of shoe that I wear, so it was really awesome to learn today that the company is working to be more sustainable for our planet!
THE FUTURE
WE HAVE BOTH LONG AND SHORT-TERM GOALS AND AMBITIONS TO CONTINUE OUR IMPROVEMENTS WITHOUT FORGETTING ABOUT OUR ORIGINS OR LETTING PERFECT GET IN THE WAY OF PROGRESS. BELOW IS A SNAPSHOT OF WHAT WE HAVE PLANNED.
NEW MATERIALS
We’re currently exploring new materials that meet our high durability standards whilst reducing our impact on the planet. This includes identifying sources that limit the impact of our leather, as well as innovating with new alternative materials. Genix Nappa is our latest progressive material created from waste leather offcuts.
OUR SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY
Looking ahead we’re committed to utilizing a sustainable vegan upper material by 2028 and a sustainable alternative to our PVC outsoles by 2035. By 2040 we aim to have 100% of our footwear made from sustainable materials, 100% of our products to have a sustainable end-of-life option and 100% of the natural materials used in products to be sourced from regenerative agriculture. These actions will guide us to becoming a net-zero business by 2040. The full list of our goals can be found here.

TOAD&CO
EVERYDAY IS AN ADVENTURE
Since we got our start in the 90s (yep, two-way pagers were all the rage), we've been big on enjoying the simple things in life, embracing the unexpected, and letting go every once in a while. It keeps our spirits high and gives us the energy to focus on the things that matter... like working to make the outdoors more accessible to everyone, sourcing the most sustainable materials, partnering with the cleanest factories, and looking for new ways to do more with less.
Good At Every CornerOur clothing company won't singlehandedly change the world. But bringing together enough people who want to make a difference can. From how we source our materials to the non-profits we support, our choices have a big impact when we're all in it together.
Purpose For Every Purchase
We donate 1% of sales to non-profits that work to better the world, and when you shop, you get to decide which organization your money supports.
Our Ambassa-Doers
Good doers are what make our community unique. From leaving no trace, to diverse representation and education, our ambassadors know we're all in it together.
Sustainability
There's no industry standard for sustainability, so we created our own (very high) bar. From materials to packaging, we make low impact choices every step of the way.
ToadAgain Resale
ToadAgain gives our friends a place to resell pre-loved Toad&Co items and purchase past season's favorites – all in the name of keeping more things out of landfills. -

4Ocean ; they sell bracelets, apparel, etc. to help clean up the oceans of plastic debris and trash.
4ocean | Our Mission to Remove Plastic + Trash from Our Oceans
One ocean,
one missionFounded by two surfers on a mission
to end the ocean plastic crisis
“When my friend and I first started this company, we were just two surfers trying to clean the ocean. We never imagined that our scrappy little startup would become a global cleanup operation that recovers millions of pounds of trash from the world’s oceans, rivers, and coastlines every year.
But we did it like we’ve always done it… one pound of trash at a time.”
Alex Schulze
Co-Founder + CEO
Why we clean
Our lives revolve around the ocean. It’s where we go to work, relax, appreciate nature, and experience the joy of being alive.
And to see those places littered with plastic, to see wildlife disappearing, to see people losing their income and way of life…it’s the driving force behind why we clean.
We do what we do to protect the people and places we love. Not just for ourselves, but for every generation that comes after us.
Business for good
4ocean exists for one reason: to protect and preserve our oceans. Our ocean-first philosophy is at the heart of every decision we make as individuals and as a company
Public Benefit Corporation
As a Public Benefit Corporation, we’re legally required to prioritize our social and environmental impact alongside shareholder value.
We decided to file as a PBC to ensure we stay focused on our mission no matter what the future brings.
Certified B Corp
4ocean is a Certified B Corp—just like Patagonia, Bombas, Tom’s, Ben & Jerry’s, and many of your other favorite do-good brands.
Recognized as the highest standard for social and environmental corporate responsibility, this certification means that our entire business—from our daily operations to our financials—has been audited by the third-party nonprofit accreditation firm B Lab to verify that our impact is real.
1% for the Planet
Saving the ocean and our planet will take more than what one person, company, or organization can do on their own, but only 3% of all philanthropy in the U.S. goes to environmental causes.
As members of 1% for the Planet, we’ve made a commitment to donate at least 1% of our gross sales to environmental organizations that have a proven track record of driving positive change for our oceans and our planet.
Ocean Positive Verified by SeaTrees
We calculate and offset our company’s entire carbon footprint every year by restoring blue-carbon ecosystems like kelp and mangrove forests through our partnership with SeaTrees by Sustainable Surf.
But we’ve never been the type to do the bare minimum. This certification means we’ve sequestered more carbon than our business emits to have a positive impact on the marine environment.
GreenCircle Certified
The entire 4ocean plastic supply chain has been audited and verified by the third-party organization GreenCircle Certified.
This meticulous documentation process sets a new standard for accuracy and accountability regarding products made from upcycled ocean materials.
The aim of 4ocean upcycling is to continue raising awareness about ocean plastic pollution, reduce the need for virgin plastics in the future, and continue funding their global ocean cleanup operation.
100% of our profits go to our mission
Daily Cleanups
4ocean is one of the only companies in the world that hires full-time captains and crews to recover plastic waste and other man-made debris directly from the open ocean and environments where plastic is at high risk of entering the ocean. This includes select rivers as well as vulnerable coastal ecosystems like mangrove forests, coral reefs, estuaries, and beaches. Thanks to you, we’re out here seven days a week.
Waste Management
We always prioritize the most sustainable disposal methods for all of our recovered materials—even when it costs more. Thanks to you, we’re also able to set up or invest in local waste management infrastructure when operating in areas where none exists.
Education + Awareness
We’re committed to sharing our knowledge, raising awareness, and inspiring action on behalf of our one shared ocean. Your purchases make it possible for us to share our mission with new audiences all around the world and inspire more people to join the clean ocean movement.

Another company I like to purchase some of my clothes from is tentree. Here's a little info about them and a link if you would like to check them out!
About
We're tentreeWe Believe Big Change Starts Small.
Small as in bringing your own bags to the grocery store, or drinking from a reusable water bottle—or making sustainable choices when you shop.
For every item purchased we plant trees, in an effort to regenerate ecosystems, capture carbon and provide planting jobs in communities around the world. All our products are created with an Earth-First approach, meaning they’re made in fair, safe working conditions, and constructed using only sustainably sourced and recycled materials.
tentree
impact, sustainability & restoration
At tentree, our mission is to make restoring the planet simple. Over the last decade, we've made a big impact by planting trees for every item of clothing we sell — over 100 million trees so far.The Restorative Agenda is our first formal impact strategy — our proactive approach toward creating a more sustainable and equitable future. It's a document that outlines how we're shifting from being merely sustainable to providing a positive benefit to the planet we play in, while inviting other companies to join us in these efforts. The Restorative Agenda accompanies our annual Impact Report, which offers insight into our progress on sustainability targets in 5 key areas: Transparency, Climate, Product, Nature, and People. We're proud of our achievements over the past year and can't wait to share our latest milestones and vision for the future with you
Our Materials
At tentree, sustainability has been a main focus of ours since the beginning — so it's only natural that our materials are some of the most earth-friendly in the industry. But don't take our word for it, scroll down to learn more about our fibres and blends.
Ethical Manufacturing
Sustainable clothes are made in a way that's kind to the earth and those who call it home. That's why we work only with manufacturers and suppliers that are conscious of their environmental impact, and that guarantee a safe and respectful environment for their employees. Below you can learn more about some of our partner facilities, all of which are regularly audited to ensure compliance with our Code of Conduct and international labour standards. To see a full list of our factories, click here.
Thinking Outside the Box
We believe that sustainable clothes should come in sustainable packaging. All the materials we use to ship your clothing are made and sourced responsibly — and only used when it's absolutely necessary
Climate actionHere's Our Plan
We're working towards a world where businesses are leading the change we need, placing planet and people first. By giving back to our communities, creating ethical and sustainable products and offsetting our emissions, we hope to show what a planet-first business can look like.
The following three part climate action plan was created in partnership with Climate Neutral.
This plan is divided in the 3 following sections:
01 Measure
completed100%We measured Scope 1, 2 and 3 cradle-to-customer emissions following categories and approaches established in the Climate Neutral standards.GHG Scope 1 = 22.97t CO2e
Emissions from energy used in buildings, fleets, and equipment.
GHG Scope 2 = 0.54t CO2e
Indirect emissions from electricity.
GHG Scope 3 = 6,736.94t CO2e
Emissions from raw materials, manufacturing, shipping, air travel, and other activities in the supply chain.
Total Emissions (2024): 6,760.45t CO2e
The sum of scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
02 Offset
completed100%By setting a Science Based Target Initiative, we have committed to reducing our carbon emissions, both in the near term and the long-term. For the carbon emissions we have not been able to reduce yet, we offset these emissions through investment in projects outside of their value chain. This step supports our climate neutrality designation and enables us to take responsibility for historical emissions while we actively work to continue reducing overall emissions released.Emissions Offset Total (2023): 13,766t CO2e
For reference, reducing a footprint by 1,000 tonnes is roughly equal to removing 230 passenger vehicles from the road for a year.
Our carbon credits came from:
Renewable Energy
We invested in solar project in multiple states across India, a photovoltaic project in Rajasthan, and a wind power project in Tamil Nadu. These projects will replace greenhouse gases emissions connected to the Indian grid, which is mainly dominated by thermal/fossil fuel based power plants.
03 Reduce
in the workOur climate roadmap aims to tackle emissions across all aspects of our operations and supply chain, with a particular focus on our emissions ‘hotspots.’ We don’t have all the answers, and our roadmap will evolve over time as new solutions emerge, but here are some of the steps we are currently taking to decarbonize our own operations and partner with our suppliers to reduce emissions in our supply chain. We've set targets and identified ways to reduce our emissions that come from our day-to-day operations and supply chain. These actions will enable us to emit fewer emissions in the future align with our Science-based Target Initiative.Current Year Reduction Actions
We are implementing a Reduction Action Plan to reduce emissions from within our its own operations and supply chain.
01 Reduce Emissions From Fossil Fuels at the Factory30%How We'll Reduce ItWe’ll eliminate the use of coal in our supply chains by 2030 at the latest, and encourage suppliers to switch to renewable energy and set emissions reduction targets.
02 Reduce Emissions from Shipping40%How We'll Reduce ItWe’re switching to lower-impact delivery methods such as electric vehicles (EVs). In 2023, 25% of online orders in Canada were delivered by EV.
03 Reduce Emissions from Offices30%How We'll Reduce ItWe’ve teamed up with BullFrog Power, a fellow B Corp, to ensure our offices run on 100% renewable electricity.
04 Reduce the Volume of Virgin Materials we use in our Product.40%How We'll Reduce ItWe will increase recycled material use by 25%. We're always working on new ways to do better by our planet, from making our business fully circular by 2025, to implementing tracing software in our supply chains. For the products that do use virgin materials, we aim to use Preferred Materials, which amount to 99% of our fiber use. Preferred Materials have lower impact, pertaining to the categories of climate, water, chemistry, land use, biodiversity, resource use & waste, and human rights from the Textile Exchange Preferred Fiber and Materials Matrix. In Progress Reductions
01 Factory Emissions10%How We'll Reduce ItWe are actively working to reduce emissions throughout all areas of our value chain. By collaborating through industry-related working groups, we are trying to find ways to continue to make further progress, using industry experience to support us on this journey.
02 Air Freight Emissions0%How We'll Reduce ItWe are working to use air freight as little as possible, opting instead for alternative, more sustainable modes of transportation (i.e. vessel). We aim to keep our freight usage to under 5% of total shipping.-
