I realize I already do a lot each month for conservation, but with a few extra steps can easily implement more actions throughout the year.

I bought some plants on clearance from a bad freeze, I nursed them back to health and now have added these native plants into my current landscaping. These included some bottle brush bushes, yucca, and lantanas.

I did a lot of dividing of daffodils, irises, and yarrow last year. Everyday I go and check to see if they survived the transplant. So far so good. I look forward to seeing them fill in the spaces I moved them to.

    Deanna Johnson's avatar
    Deanna Johnson 4/28/2025 8:05 AM
Honestly, I booked the physical as I needed a form completed to attend summer camp as a chaperone with the Boy Scouts, but I realized I need to do this more often to stay in charge of my health.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What was the most unexpected piece of trash that was picked up during your local cleanup effort? How does working with others to clean up your community make you feel?

    Deanna Johnson's avatar
    Deanna Johnson 4/28/2025 8:04 AM
I have not been able to do 10 different cleanups, but I have participated in 4 different cleanups, and they have been very rewarding and beneficial to the community. I especially enjoyed working with the Scouts to do park cleanups so they can see the benefits of their actions.

I feel so much better when I have exercise, less stiff from sitting at my desk all day, and more energy later in the day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Well-Being
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What changes did you make to improve your sleep, and how did they affect your day?

    Deanna Johnson's avatar
    Deanna Johnson 4/28/2025 8:02 AM
When my family gets more sleep, we all wake up easier, and seem to have more energy throughout the day, and I need less caffeine during the day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How did decluttering and donating items make you feel, both emotionally and physically?

    Deanna Johnson's avatar
    Deanna Johnson 4/28/2025 8:02 AM
It was freeing to remove the clutter from my home, and nice that we found new homes for items. Leveraged taking clothes to the Emerson Women's clothing drive, Leveraged the neighborhood Buy Nothing group to get rid of a number of items in the house, and donated items to charity.

    Deanna Johnson's avatar

Spent the time with the Boy Scouts on a camping trip over the weekend. When kids are outside it is amazing to see how they change interacting with nature, it opens their perspectives and connects them more to the earth. We did a cleanup at the campground too.
