DAILY ACTION

Sustainable Innovation

Advocate For Better Food Packaging

When companies and governments make large-scale changes to their products and practices, it makes sustainability more accessible to the masses, in turn creating further demand for sustainable products, and the cycle continues. I will advocate for improved, sustainable food packaging through petitions, letters, or by supporting brands that prioritize eco-friendly packaging - and share my advocacy actions on the feed.

When I went grocery shopping I made sure to bring a reusable bag so I didn't need a plastic one from the store, and when we needed to get produce, I made sure we went to a grocery store that supplies the biodegradable produce bags to reduce plastic waste. Taking these actions and supporting businesses that are working to reduce their plastic waste will help show their is a call for action from the people for big businesses to become more sustainable as they will have more customers who applaud those actions. A widespread change in food packaging would decrease litter and waste on our planet a lot and would be beneficial to a lot of ecosystems.

How did replacing old bulbs with LED bulbs make you feel about reducing your energy consumption? What other small energy-saving actions could you take to reduce your environmental impact?

I felt good about replacing the old light bulbs with more energy efficient LED bulbs because I try to be very conscious about my energy consumption. Some other small energy-saving actions I can do to reduce my environmental impact is turning off the lights when I'm not in the room.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

I believe that nuclear power holds a lot of potential for clean, sustainable energy. It creates a lot of electricity and with new technologies it is quite safe and efficient. I think sustainable innovation will become an integral part of our future as we look for ways to reduce emissions to slow climate change.
