Enjoy a Meatless Meal

Producing 1 kg of beef emits as much greenhouse gas as driving 150 miles, meanwhile, 1 kg of veggies or grains leaves a much lighter footprint! This week, I’ll shrink my climate impact by having 1 meatless meals meals each day.

Too much artificial light can confuse and harm animals, especially those active at night. I will reduce sources of outdoor light or switch to wildlife-friendly fixtures to support healthy habitats.

After meditating today, I felt very calm. I will say that sometimes I feel stressed after meditating because there are a lot of things going through my head during my 10 minutes of silence. I think mindfulness can support my well-being day to day by decreasing regret.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Biodiversity and Wildlife
What lights did you reduce or change, and how might this help wildlife near you?

At my house, we don't leave our exterior lights on. I think that leaving exterior lights on could possibly make some animals believe the lights are the moon and confuse them.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Biodiversity and Wildlife
What natural features did you leave in place, and what wildlife do you think could benefit from them?

I never rake the leaves in my yard. Until we started this challenge, I didn't realize I was benefiting wildlife by leaving them. I think leaving leaves probably benefits insects and maybe animals like rabbits or birds that use them for their nests and stuff.

Sleep is very important for me. When I don't get enough sleep, I feel like I can't function. I also feel like if I get too much sleep, I don't function at 100%.

Exercising makes me feel productive. I work as a waitress, so I am walking all night. I worked from 3:30 to 9:30 today and got around 10,000 steps.
