With everything going on in my personal life I still made time to complete this challenge that taught me a lot. My goal is to definitely practice all that I learned
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Education & Livelihood Work-Life Balance
How does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?

    Zully Herrera 's avatar
    Zully Herrera 4/27/2023 10:08 AM
Practicing a work-life balance makes me reflect more on a sustainable life. I reflect so much on how to separate my trash from recycling items. I have gathered three bags of sustainable items and took them to the proper place to get reused.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health & Equity Donate Food
Why do you donate food? How does it connect to your values?

    Zully Herrera 's avatar
    Zully Herrera 4/27/2023 10:00 AM
There are many reasons why myself and others donate food. One reason I donate food is because I put myself in shoes of people that are going through hard times. I really want to make a difference in their lives even if it's starting with something small :)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Basic Needs & Security Know Your Produce
What surprised you about the two produce lists? How will you use these lists for your grocery shopping? Have you used these lists before?

    Zully Herrera 's avatar
    Zully Herrera 4/10/2023 11:21 AM
Something that surprised me about my produce list is that I had a lot of unhealthy and non organic items. I began to eliminate all junk food that is not needed

Something mindfulness that I practice is chewing slowly. The reason why is because that why I can acknowledge the smell, taste and how it feels.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Economy & Communities Mend Clothing
What was it like to mend your clothing? If you are skilled at mending, what tips do you have for others?

    Zully Herrera 's avatar
    Zully Herrera 4/10/2023 10:48 AM
I help my sister mend some pants she wanted to throw away. I'm not good at mending clothes, but it was worth a try and her pants now look pretty nice.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Basic Needs & Security Volunteer in My Community
What was one of your most memorable volunteer experiences, and why? What would you like to volunteer for next, and why?

    Zully Herrera 's avatar
    Zully Herrera 4/10/2023 10:41 AM
Something memorable during my volunteer experience was getting to know my neighbor more. She is moving out and I volunteered to help move things around/out since she was a bit older. She has an interesting past and a lot of grandkids. Next time I would like to volunteer at a shelter and provide those in need with helpful supplies.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health & Equity Spend Time Outside
What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

    Zully Herrera 's avatar
    Zully Herrera 4/10/2023 10:35 AM
Some implications for my culture is sitting at home watching TV series. I started to change that by going on more walks around my complex and just meditating outside the lawn
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Education & Livelihood Share Your Eco Habits
How do you create new sustainability-related habits or change bad habits?

    Zully Herrera 's avatar
    Zully Herrera 4/10/2023 10:29 AM
A bad habit I have is not being able to recycle my items properly. It's a habit I'm trying to change and so far on scale 1-10 I'm in the 6 range. It's takes practice.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health & Equity Practice Mindfulness
What was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?

    Zully Herrera 's avatar
    Zully Herrera 4/03/2023 2:00 PM
It was hard to practice mindfulness. I get distracted really easy. Before going to bed I practiced on mediation.
